M1A1 Thompson Body Parts?
Hello. I hope I'm posting in the right section.
I'm in a predicament. I own a TM Thompson, which you can't purchase in Canada anymore, because of the new laws... I did something stupid and lent my AEG to a very close friend that I've known my whole life. He is in film and was making a movie. I trusted him to take good care of it. I told him these are my babies, I can't get these in canada anymore. He said he would. I finally found out from him that the Thompsons body is cracked. Up by the weaker part of the fore grip. When I found this out I got really sad and kind of frustrated... He even left the thompson at a friends house, which I couldn't believe! I don't even know this person... So he told me the news, and promised to replace it or get it repaired. I'm writing this to find out, if it's possible to order new body parts into Canada for the TM M1A1 Thompson AEG? I know you can't get this AEG in canada anymore because of the law changes. So I guess my only option is to get it repaired. Does anyone know who can repair this or if I can get parts for this AEG in canada? Thank you very much! |

If you can get age verified where you live you will have access to the ASC classifieds and retailer section. There's are TM Thompson M1A1's currently for sale in each.
If what you need is this: http://www.uncompany.com/pageproduct...sp?prodid=6560 ...just be patient as they will be in stock sometime. On several forums I have read that the CAW / Mosquito Molds M1928 kits were no longer being made. Well guess what chicken butt? They are now for sale overseas at several retailers. Never say never eh. Also, you can always contact / private message leecas on this forum or http://www.ontarioairsoftwwiireenactors.com/forum/and ask him what fix he did. He has / had a repaired TM Thompson. Lastly, http://ww2aa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=technical is a great resource for all things that are ww2 airsoft. Check it out. I suppose another option is that Cyma Thompsons are available in Canada. You could always get your friend to replace the broken TM Thompson with one of these.

What new laws are you talking about? I can get TM Guns whenever I want. There is no law preventing you from ordering the parts from a retailer.
Furthermore. Its a plastic body, Why not just order an FMU Kit? Lastly, your selection will be nil untill you get age verified.

Yeah, it's been awhile since I've been on these forums. School and such kept me busy. Now that I'm done school, I want to get back into my airsoft stuff. I live in Vancouver BC. I guess I'll go to the BCAC forums to ask about age verifying.
Thanks so much for the help! Really appreciate it. I'm not too clear on the new laws since I got back into Airsoft. I think I read that guns have to have the smokey clear plastic receiver? And you can't purchase TM as a civilian? How do you get TM guns? Privately? I was sad when i found all this out... but if there is a way, I'd love to know. Thanks for all the help guys! Talk soon! |

I think the part where the barrel screws into the main part of the gun. I guess it's the weakest point of the gun and is easy to crack. I'm not sure yet because I haven't seen it yet. My friend is returning it to me this week...

And to the OP, yes you can get TM and CYMA M1A1's very easily in Canada. You just have to be AV's on these forums. |

If you're going to replace your externals, you might as well do it in style! http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/gandp-m41...a1-series.html

@Styrak - I private messaged Crash and Kampfer to get Age Verified in my area, but they haven't gotten back to me yet. It'd be sweet to take a look at the classifieds eventually.
@The_Silencer - The conversion kit would be soooo sick! haha Very Tempting. |

A user on here, Fader, made his own replacement by putting a piece of pipe inside where the barrel broke and it has been rock solid ever since.
You can try messaging him but I'm not sure if he still comes online. |

well if your tompson looks anything like the pic then you could get a replacement barrel that will do it again or you could get someone at a machine shop to make you a solid bar out of steel or aluminum that has the same contours as the old piece on the bottom and hugs the barrel all the way to the body, or if you have a drill press and a hacksaw you could make it out of flat bar or some scrap metal, and dont forget to tap the forward hole. just my thoughts tho

Yeah. That would be a good idea to re-enforce it. I don't really want it to break again. ha Does anyone know another way to get a hold of Crash, or Kampfer? I messaged them on here. I need to get age verified.

Often, it's easier to just meet an AVer at a game.
Also, I've had one class about machining. I may draw something when I have the time. Actually, if you could post pics, it would help.

This sort of problem is quite frequent with the tm tommy guns... As soon as the two screws that hold the barrel in place loosen the damn thing craks quite easely. Locktite (blue) is your friend on the two lower and the top setscrew This is my fix on the issue
