Gun in a bag -whats this part for???

Hi folks. A friend of yours and mine has asked my to fix his AEG.
A KWA m4 with either a Version 2 or 3 gearbox
so i said SURE..... then he drops of Gun in a bag
well its all fixed EXCEPT this bit....
what the hell is this for?
He said it came out of the Gearbox... Dont know where?
I cannot find a spot that looks like it fits.

I am looking around the trigger area as with the Weapon assembled, you can still fire the gun in safe mode (the trigger catchs on safe, then
slips past and fires.
also in semi the trigger doesnt return al the way to firing position.
any help would be appreciated

looks a little bit like the lever the selector plate pushes to hold the gun in safe

Little piece to aid in running the wires inside the gearbox, they're normally for a front wired gun.

It's a version 2 mechbox...all M4's are.

That piece is a little plastic holder that wedges the motor wires in place. It holds the black wire. IMO, it's optional.

I second that. It goes in the base of the mechbox (inside) near where the motor goes into the box.

I had this exact question a couple of years ago myself...

as for firing in safe mode, i think the slector plate may be a little worn and is not seating properly in each position.

as for your 2 cents, I do appricate you answer although it maybe wrong,
it was a possible guess and as the part in question doesnt effect the misfiring concern, your answer has given me a place to start and that lead me tothe selector plate.

so although your answer to the part is incorrct you direction to the other issue has lead to a possible solution.
thanks.

You were the one that bailed me out when I asked the same question back in 2007. And because of that, I also instantly recognized it.

ok so here is the current delima
the Gearbox is in the lower with a 9 cell NiMh hooked up.
when in safe, you can pull the trigger and with just a slight catch then it fires and the trigger resets to fire again.
In Semi, it fires but the trigger doenst reset to firing position (spring??)
but in full auto mode it fires and restest properly

whats your thoughts?
