Beware - WE M14 wood stocks

Just a quick note for users here who have managed to get their hands on a WE M14. If you are interested in getting a nice real deal USGI surplus wood stock, there is a site called "Fred's Surplus". They deal in nothing but M14 stocks and accessories, I've done business w/ them before and they are nice to buy from, real down to earth folks.

http://www.fredsm14stocks.com/

It's possible to get a real, good condition wood M14 stock w/ metal bits for less than $30US+ shipping from them. The reason I am posting this information is that once I saw that the WE M14 would be compatible w/ real wood stocks, I conjectured that certain people would start importing them and selling them for insane amounts of money.

I'm not going to "name names", but there is one such ad already on the buy&sell here for a M14 wood stock with a bit of dremel work for over $200 asking price. This is a blatant rip off, and there is no reason players need to be shelling out that kind of cash for a 40 year old piece of surplus wood.

FYI.

Sometimes you can find them at local surplus shops. Blasty bought one for his Marui M14 from MilArm a few years back, and I think it was around $30 or soemthing cheap like that.

But, if someone wants one, has no tools and is not good with their hands, buying one for $200 already done might be palatable.

That is a fair point, and as you may be aware I had to spend quite a bit of time (like Blasty did as well before me) previously hollowing out a wood USGI stock to fit a TM M14, whereas the work required is extremely simple in this regard. It would literally be cheaper to purchase the dremel, spend a half hour and then have your stock and a dremel tool for keeps.

I'm just hoping to make people aware of their options, thank you for giving voice to the "buy it now" perspective though

Chiming in and reiterating:

Buying a wood stock which has been dremeled to fit an AEG m14 internals for $200 is about right (the dremel work is a mofo to get right and retain a strong grip).

Buying a wood stock for a WE m14 for any more than the $30 + shipping as mentioned above is not a smart idea.

thanks for the site. Ive been looking everywhere for a good quality, low cost wood stock. Can those RS stocks be made to fit a Marui M14?

I picked up a M14 stock for my TM on ebay and it cost me $46 including shipping. My winter project will be to get my dermel and chisels out and do a little surgery!!

Just one thing, I mailed WE about RS compatibility because I wanted to get the WE in an RS MCS kit.
Long story short : it can't, seems that the WE system has some major dimensions differences with a regular USGI.
