Your 2nd(?) sear is broken. (The one that houses the other sears)

It'll have a slight bend on the parts the run parallel to each other with the cutout for the other sears in the middle..

... I shouldn't be giving gun advise when I'm tired.

That one.

But a new sear, Don't buy cheap guns, don't buy deepfire.

Well that was fast.

The trigger assembly is the only part of the rifle that hasn't been upgraded yet.

The 1st Sear:

The 2nd sear:

It doesn't matter if it "looks" okay, if the piston isn't catching, it's broken.
Luckily, on a VSR there's only 2 things that can cause that problem, broken piston or broken sears lol

well $42 later, lots of cursing, hour upon hour of frustration and some blood shed....NOTHING!
So I replaced the first sear and reinstalled my old 120 spring and still does the same thing

UPDATE: so the sear will catch the piston EVERY TIME, but when I try to return the bolt back to the start position the sear releases the piston somehow?

its looks good. I don't know where the failure threshold is for a piston

The issue is that the first sear is not sitting high enough to catch the piston, and it slips and slam fires when you try and cock it.

I had the same issue with slamfiring before I got my zero trigger, the issue arose when I tried to put a 150 spring in there, from a 120.

The plastic pistons are horrible, I would recommend getting a metal one.

But even if you got a new piston running with the stock trigger, the stock trigger wouldn't last you that long if you game often.

It's well worth the investment for a zero trigger + piston. My zero trigger is phenomenal, reliable and I have never had any issues with it.

But if your a cheapskate and like ghettomodding your gun to save a few bucks, grind down the bottom of the receiver about 2-3mm and retap the threads, that should bring the whole trigger assembly up a bit, hence making it easier for the first sear to catch the piston.
or
Drill a tiny hole on the top of the first sear, tap it and screw in a tiny flat screw and file it down so it's square and flat, so it looks something like this: (apologies for the wonderful diagram)

If this method enables you to cock the gun fine, but when you pull the trigger nothing happens, you'll have to file the top down some more.

I've had success with both of the above methods, put only for a couple of weeks, so they're not very reliable and very temporary, and I hold no responsibility if any damage to your gun that arise from any of my suggestions here.

Hope this helps.

I really don't want to invest too much money into a platform I don't see myself using =(

But apparently people like working guns or something haha
