Crosman Red Dot Review

I have been looking for a cheap red dot to purchase for a while now and decided to try my luck with the Crosman Red Dot (I know many other companies like NCStar make this same RDS)

I purchased this at a local gun store for $36. The prices for these though jump from $10 - $30+.

So mine firstly did not come with a manual, box or anything just the RDS itself with a nice layer of dust covering it and the price tag.

There is an On & Off switch turn the RDS On and Off, simple enough.

The battery compartment is on the front of the RDS, underneath the lense. Just pop off the cap and place the battery inside. I suggest electric taping the cap on as it may fall off during a game.

There is only one dot reticle which seems to be like your usual do reticle on any RDS, fuzzy but still bright enough to see.

THERE ARE 2 working knobs, one on the right hand side and one on the bottom back half of the RDS for Windage and Elevation, and yes BOTH are fully adjustable and work perfectly fine!!!

After cleaning it up, I let my dad test it on his Crosman 2289G pellet gun.

Surprisingly the reticle stayed in place despite the guns recoil, and drastically improved the accucary of his hits on the target, so it over all did it's purpose pretty well.

NOW PLEASE note that this site is meant for a pistol but can be used on a AEG rifle. I suggest though that you find or get longer screws as the standard ones it comes with won't screw into the RDS' mount propperly and keep it in place on the gun's rails.

PROS:
-Fully working Windage/Elevation
-Reticle does not move from recoil or shaking it around while it is on the gun
-Small and compact
-Cheap
-Perfect for any Pistol RIS.

CONS:
-Battery cap seems flemsy, can be fixed with tape
-Needs longer screws to mount on most AEG Rails
-Cheap

Overall a great suggestion if you need a cheap red dot for a pistol.

good review. I have one of these, but I actually find the one that I got from a $12 china-soft gun to be somewhat better. still saving up for an EOTech though. ;-)

I love mine, the only thing (and it's not much of a problem) but the paint chips off after a while.

Get emily.

I had one of these early in my paintball days. It worked pretty decently but it wasn't that durable. The mount is metal but the tabs on the lower part of the sight they are attached to are plastic so they lasted a few months before they cracked.
