Cyma AKS 74U hand guard

My buddy has an AKS 74U by Cyma, it's his first gun, and neither of us are AK-inclined by any means. Now he's got about three different pins that I personally have no idea where they came from...the gun seems to work fine without any of them, but the upper hand guard is just kinda sitting there, with nothing holding it in place. I assume one of those pins is is meant to hold it in place, but since I know nothing of these guns, and a search on Google and YouTube brought me to a dead end, I might as well ask the true experts.

We know the lower hand guard has that little lever inside towards the front that releases that, but what holds the upper hand guard in place, and how?

I know it's a dumb question, but I really can't figure this one out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a spring loaded pin in the rear sight block (piece that the top cover hinges on) that keeps the handguard from lifting upwards at the rear.

Okay, I see that there's a little hole feeding into a little groove on the rear of the upper hand guard. I'll just assume that he's lost the pieces associated with it, ha ha! I'm sure that he still has the pin for it though, so we'll improvise a solution now that I know how it's supposed to work.

Thanks a bunch, oh holy AK Guru!

This thread can be trashed, I guess.

Cheers. I still don't know why AK guru is under my name, nor when it got there, nor how.

Regardless, I'd say it's a fitting title seeing as I spent the last two days looking for an answer with no results, and then get one ten minutes later from you, ha ha!

Thanks again!
