Hi-Capa 5.1/4.3 Holster thread

Hey guys! Anyone who owns a hi-capa 5.1 probably will have asked this question millions of times: "What holster fits a hi-capa?"

Me ,being a hi-capa owner myself, has searched the web numerous times looking for info on any type of hard case holster for my hi-capa. At last after some work i found some info that will answer your questions.

Here is the list!

Hi-capa 5.1:
- Safariland models for 1911 with some modifications to the area around the magazine release. R/L handed
- Serpa model for, i believe, 1911 (i think....may need to search some more) with either modifications to round the trigger guard or a Tanio-Koba grip. R/L handed

Hi-capa 5.1 with Tactical Light:
- Safariland models for Springfield Operator/kimber with light mount, provided that you have replaced the midframe with an integral-rail one by SD/Freedom Art/etc. R/L Handed

Hi-capa 4.3:
- Safariland models for the Glock 17/22. R/L Handed
- 5.11 Revolution model for the 1911 Officer/Para 12. R hand only
- Blackhawk Serpa for 1911 with Xiphos light (takes only the pistol without a light, but trigger lock mechanism does work that way). R Hand only

Hi-capa 4.3 with Tactical Light:
- Safariland models for the Glock 17/22 with M3 light. R/L Handed

Here's a video of the Hi-capa 4.3 in the Safariland glock 12/22 holster(m3 light):

Hope this helps!!!

Bladetech made several holster that can fit Hi-Capa. What you want to pick, depends on what configuration you are running. The one that's most likely to fit is a SVI SDC of a STI 2011 SDC for a regular 5.1.

4.3 I am not too sure since RS STIs don't run that kind of squared off frame/slide combo, though the "one size fits all" solution for 2011 will likely be the SVI 5" LDC holster. With Blade-Tech being tension adjustable you can tighten/loosen to suit the fit.

With tac light I am not too sure, they do make 1911 Holster with light, but theirs tend to be molded to the gun+light combo and thus the wacky way of 5.1 light attaches might not fit it...

3.9s can work with the 5" LDC, if you find the excess length, excessive, you can always cut the end off.....

Just as a random bit, I happen to have a Sig Pro 2340 holster from Bladetech sitting around, and it actually fits a 3.9 inch WA 2011 just fine....with positive retention as well...

"Revolution" holsters are garbage (more like the "cultural revolution" holster, take your holster 20 years in the wrong direction). Take it from someone who (reluctantly) sells them. Avoid these POS at all costs.

Just like RM said, buy a Blade-Tech STI EDGE FDC for your 5.1 (just give you some extra space, and margin for error/non-spec. I've used one for my TM Hi-Capa, and it works like a charm. I've heard, anecdotally, that the 4.3 doesn't retain in the same holster very well, but I haven't had any first hand experience with it.

How about KJW Hicapa? It has the TK grip with round trigger guard, however its frame has the rail built in.

For Bladetech, the holster does not care about trigger guard shape, its more important for frame clearance.

I tried a Blackhawk! Serpa Lv2 with my KJW Hicapa. It fits tight in a holster made for 1911R. The rail clears perfectly. Tight because of the frame is a tad bit larger than the 1911. A tiny sanding with fine sand paper or some use can make the holster easier to work.

Basically, a LV1 would probably be enough to hold is down.

I use a clone Serpa 1911 holster and it works great. I have a TK grip and it's a TAD tight but nothing a firm pull doesn't solve.

My level 3 blackhawk SERPA holster, with mag holster:

Holds my TM hicapa tight, and very nice, comfortable, doesn't wobble on my leg at all! Only thing: This is expensive ( 200$+).

That's a level 2, by the way.

I disagree. while some retention comes from fit, the vast majority of it comes from the indentation that is formed around the inside of the trigger guard.

Truth. The level 3 has a hood that comes over the back of the slide. I'd even argue that it's level one, since with the SERPAs, if you bypass the lock and turn the holster upside down, you can easily shake the gun out (if it doesn't just drop on it's own).

Personally, I find that a 2011 model (square trigger guard) will fit a 1911 (round) with no problem. But I think the opposite can be true...

Bypass the lock and it's level one?

Isn't that like saying "If I flip down the cover on my level 3 Serpa I can take it out with only one lock so it's basically a level 2"?

??? I don't get it.
