MultiCam MOLLE Contracts Awarded

The Department of Defense announced these two awards on 9 April, 2010.

BAE Systems Specialty Group, Inc., Jessup, Pa., was awarded on April 1 a $10,590,131 firm-fixed-price contract for modular lightweight load-carrying equipment in the color MultiCam. Work is to be performed in Jessup, Pa., with an estimated completion date of March 31, 2011. One bid was solicited with one bid received. U.S. Army Research Development & Engineering Command, Natick Contracting Division, Natick, Mass., is the contracting activity (W911QY-06-D-0003).

Eagle Industries Del Caribe, Lares, Puerto Rico, was awarded on April 1 a $6,809,867 firm-fixed-price contract for modular lightweight load-carrying equipment in the color MultiCam. Work is to be performed in Lares, Puerto Rico, with an estimated completion date of March 31, 2011. One bid was solicited with one bid received. U.S. Army Research Development & Engineering Command, Natick Contracting Division, Natick, Mass., is the contracting activity (W911QY-06-D-0004).

These awards signal some forward momentum on the MultiCam fielding as well as the return of Eagle to MOLLE production since they closed the Michael Bianco plant last summer.

Now all the noobs running around in the stuff will jizz their little multicam bdu's. Looks like the army is moving forward with adding to their ACU line up.

UCP-D was tested against Multicam with select units in Afghanistan, and Multicam was chosen.

It is not only for gear, but also for combat garments (while on the field, Multicam BDUs+gear will be worn, but on base it will still be ACU).

This only applies to troops deployed in Afghanistan.

The US will soon rival the Russians in terms of all the camo they field! As long as it works for the people on the ground and friendly fire is not an issue, it's great. So multicam is no longer just 'airsoft-pat'? :P

Call me crazy, but I like that UCP-delta.

This contract is only for Gear. They have already awarded contracts for garments.

can i just ask, why all the hate for poor ol' multicam?

in my book if it's the best (for the environment i'm in) then i'm happy..

note, i have to say that for me multicam works (i'm in cyprus, a rather dry country to say the least) but i've always thought multiam just looked like AUSCAM that hadn't been drawn by an autistic 5 year-old (i hate AUSCAM, with a burning vengence)

4 years ago, you couldnt get me to touch MC. I had a few members of the Snowdragons drive me up the wall asking that I allow it for their section. After I finally gave up and okay'd the camo, I started to see them using it at games and realized that there were times that it was good, and in some cases it was great. Bout 6 months after that I started collecting my own uniform in MC.

So how many camo patterns have the US Army gone through in the past 25 years? And besides DEA FAST teams who else has actually been issued MC? I heard certain SF groups but never found any pics myself.
