minimum rail length required for a bipods?

I am in the processing of picking a bipod or a bipod adapter that require minimum rail length for a secure mount. My bottom rail has already occupied by a angled foregrip and there is not much space left. Would anyone happen to has experiences with any quick detach bipods or quick detach bipod adapter that could mount on to 1.6 inch length of rail space?

I am open to suggestions except perhaps side mount bipods. Thanks.

I think your best bet would be a forward grip/bi-pod. Because your either using one or the other it would be stupid to have both on if it were not the grip/bi-pod imo.

heh.lol the side mount bipod he's refering to is the vltor style, one arm per side. And the integrated grip-pods are waaaay to frigging big. most of the rail mounted bipods only require about an inch of rail space to mount so i doubt you'll have trouble.

Bipod for a carbine that will be used for CQB (as I have read you state its use in the past, correct me if Im mistaken), doesn't really make much sense if you ask me. The engagement distances and times will negate any use of the bipod, will just add more weight to a rifle you already think is too heavy and will make it even more cumbersome when carrying it around. Bipods are primarily used on long guns with long range shots to steady the rifle from the movement translated from your body. Carbines with a bipod make as much sense as a pistol with a bipod.

But if you are still deadset on attaching a bipod, then why not look into a barrel attachment for bipods as posted in another thread about this topic you made? Adds more rail real-estate.

I recently refit my KWA S-System with number of accessories like Hurricane EOtech 556, EOTech 4x magnifier, Magpul CTR Stock, flashlight, Angled foregrip...etc The total weight of the rifle is approaching 10 pounds. When my gun is not in used, I would like to attached a bi-pod, so my rifle would become part of my house decoration.

I was thinking of getting the a barrel mounted bi-pod, but I was afraid my gun barrel may not be strong enough to withstand the total weight of the rifle for extended period of time. This is why I am looking for a rail mount bipods instead. However the angled foregrip already taken up much up the bottom rail space and there is about 1.6 inch length of space left.

I mount a flashlight/bi-pod onto the barrel of my M4.

It's basically a small rail that clamps onto the barrel (hex) and allows me to mount things I would otherwise be unable to due to lack of RAS/RIS.
