When using a blade of that style, training I've recieved indicates that you would hold it blade up to you and use it in a "gutting" manner, it's a very simple concept and requires very little training to use a blade in that manner, keeping in mind how quickly the people issued that knife where "trained".
Many confederate knives from the civil war tend to confuse people not familiar with that concept. Stab in and yank up, whole bunch of nasty damage is done. Bayonets can be used to slash, but are primarily designed for thrusting, so it makes sense to use it in the manner I mentioned if it's not fixed to your weapon. That said, most troops seem to ditch them from what I can tell.

Yup, it's there to prevent you from dropping the thing. Also, if anyone wandered about rubber insulation around early soviet and some Eastern block AK scabbards, it's there to protect user from shock when cutting energized electrical wire, or at least that's what the manual says
![]() AK bayonets are not made for anything but stabbing, cutting wire or opening canned food. Those things are actually very fragile. Hold it horizontally and hit a piece a wood really hard, thing would most likely snap in half... Years ago, back home I threw one in the tree from about 15 feet, it hit the wood sideways and blade snapped.

Thanks guys! I ended up taking it off, as it was just coming loose and being a general annoyance!

The regular price must be a joke. Why would they even list it as on sale?

TA's prices usually suck, especially when they have a "sale"
