OK, guys please help me make the right choice here. I want to get a tactical softshell that i can use at work (military), and recreationally (Camping, Snowboarding, Snowmobiling etc) But I also want to wear in day-to-day stiuations.
I really want to get the TAD Stealth Hoodie (classic) with one of their fleece softshells - I love thier design, (the sharkskin materials is interesting - I doubt its actual sharkskin though, is it?) I've read multiple reviews on this product and have yet to read something bad (or less than stellar) about them. the only thing that prevented me from buying this on the spot was the price tag (mind you the price has gone down it seems $256 on their site http://www.tadgear.com/shop.php?id=510) then recently I cam across these Condor softshell + fleece combos that Knyte is selling on here for $160 for both the outer and inner - pretty good deal. I visited the site http://www.condoroutdoor.com/602_Soft_Shell_Jacket.aspx and it seems to offer the same design benefits of the Stealth Hoodie, the only thing I question is the quality of this product and its performance reviews form people who hae actually put these through the ringer. Anyways before I shell out the green I was wondering if you guys could give me your advice/opinions on this matter. Thank you in advance. BTW Merry X-mas!!

No, it's not actually sharkskin...
They use two kinds of softshell material, Rhinohide and Sharkskin. I think the idea is, the Rhino is a little tougher, more wear resistant, and the Shark is smoother...? Supposed to be quieter in the field, less "whiffing" noise when you move. I've had a Rhinohide one for 3 years now, and theres a bit of pilling on the lower back from where my pack rubbed, and a tiny tear on the underside of one sleeve (I wish I could say it was from barbed wire or a stray bullet, but it was a sharp-edged shelf in a grocery store got me). That said, I think the material they use now is different; the colours certainly are. http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...t=92292&page=4 The green jacket, a little down the page. P.S. I'm getting one of those Condors myself; much cheaper than TADGear, dunno yet about quality. I'm getting a black one, as my wife is sick of the "military" colours (sheesh).

I have the Condor Fleece, and am awaiting the Condor Softshell. The Fleece is definitely worth every penny. I've worn the fleece with my under armour cold gear long sleeve at night and early morning at -10 to -15 and i was fine.

I just received my Condor SoftShell OD/X-Large from AirsoftOutletNW... got lucky since I was looking for a OD in X-Large and it was their last softshell. It's my first time buying this kind of equipement so I can't make a indeep review. But at first look, this is really well made... I'll be out on the week-end for a bit of hiking and I'll give you feedback.

That way I will be able to get a closer look to this Condor softshell of yours. This new company is intriguing. Most of their gear look good, yet it's cheap.

I was looking to get a high end soft-shell myself. I stumbled upon this and didn't realize Carhartt made soft-shells. They basically have a "coyote" color and now olive. Probably can't beat them for a price and ruggedness

lapolicegear has a really nice fleece hoodie on sale right now for $55 USD. Shipping to Canada is about $17 USD. The only caveat is that they're only in black and only sizes M - XXL available. Search for sku ZH-8009. Just got one from an order two weeks ago at $60. Yes, the price went down. :P
