That's awesome information. Thanks for that.
So am I right in saying that, an RDS/reflex-sight is all one really needs for airsoft? With the limited airsoft range, unless one is totally blind - why would one need the extra range of a scope? Second question is this: those reflex sights that look like a scope for airsoft but only have x1 magnification - are those used in real-life, or do all the real reflex sights look like those square window things? thanks! |

http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper...eddot%20Scopes Both those are red dots, typically if it's a long tube it's a scope, if it's a short tube it's just an RDS And to add on to making fun of using an AN/PEQ against an enemy with night vision, not only do you need to worry about your AN/PEQ, but your IR tabs, ACU is obvious under NVG, any fake gear lights up, and they may want to turn the IR strobe light on their shoulders off |

Damn leblanc, seems you are following me around. Make sure you point out those who suggested the entire thing.

What about my question about scope magnification? For an AEG, is it really necessary to have a scope with magnification, or is it really just window dressing? I'm thinking with airsoft ranges, scopes are just window dressing, am I right?
thanks! |

Actually they are useful in some areas, scoping out detail at longer ranges, pinpointing your shots on smaller areas (like a bum exposed from behind a tree), verifying that you did in fact hit the guy, etc. Fussy eye relief and lack of fast acquisition are two downfalls of a magnified scope, but with both 1x RDS and 4x scopes, there are pros & cons between the two.
So no, it's not "window dressing" at all. |

Then more and more people will just see how you're trying to trick people to add weight and surface area to themselves and their guns to give you a bigger target... :P

That is true, and makes them move slower too. Look at Apoc and how often I've shot him.

As I said before, unless you're going for a sniper/sharpshooter role with an upgraded AEG, you will do fine with an RDS. And ya, in real life, people use reflexs with no magnification.
