Okay, I'm a newbie, but why does he have a flashlight on the side, when the PEQ also has a flashlight? Thanks for the insight!

sarcastro December 14th, 2007 01:01

Real PEQ's have a IR light hence the need for a separate white light as well.

lupo December 14th, 2007 01:01

Because the PEQ2 isnt a flashlight. Its a laser aiming/targetting device.

That's almost a pun, "thanks for the insight". Click on the link and you'll see why you might want a white light.

szetor December 14th, 2007 01:13

also, the PEQ might just be a battery pack eg. non working light.

rockafella December 14th, 2007 02:12

ok, I could be way off here, so if I am please correct me. As far as I know The AN/PEQ 2 and other simmilar devices do have an illuminator and a laser aiming system, but it is more than just a simple flashlight/laser sight in a box, it is mainly used in low-light situations where stealth is of the ecesnce. The light/laser targeting signiture emitted is only visible with the uses of NVG.

Styrak December 14th, 2007 02:48

That's correct. Laser painter for targets and laser aimer for using the actual weapon, both infrared therefore only visible by NVG.

Ronan December 14th, 2007 02:59

Makes me laugh every time i see them use those things.

If America ever goes up against a real army, hope they realize NVG's aren't only worn by American soldiers!

But in reality, odds are that they'll mainly fight countries with little to no NVG available. Even if they fight a country with widespread NVG use, the other country is more than likely to have their own version of the AN/PEQ-2 as well. In either event, using the PEQ allows the Americans to maximize their NVG's effectiveness with little to no real drawback. So it's really not nearly as funny as you think.

Simple answer is.............. because there's room for it on the rail. Am sure people would install turn signals on their RIS if they were about to properly mount them and have room for them.

FOX_111 December 14th, 2007 10:17

The correct use for an RIS rail in airsoft involve packing as much shit on it as possible. Having 2 lights and 2 lasers plus 1 grip is not uncommon.

People are RIS whores.

What colour turn signals are available?

CDN_Stalker December 14th, 2007 10:26

Orange. Good for low light CQB operations. :D
