Wow... I've never even heard of 2 position...
If you read the features on the C8s and the C7A2 they all say 4 Position... http://www.coltcanada.com/c7-page.htm

If you're planning on bringing a gun in to play with, good luck with that.

There is not a system in place, but you can probably arrange something with a local player if you advise in time.

Like the looks on it, I don't know if it's the kodak but the body seems "greenish"
still, paint on that elcan and it'll be very sweet

It's an Iphone shot and the light was crap, it's not that greenish in reality. I'd paint the elcan, but it's real and isn't something I could get my hands on again, so I'm gonna leave it as is :P

Going to be building this soon, so taking suggestions for a base gun to use.

I'd say CA, VFC, or G&P. I know G&P definitely makes nice M4's but both CA and VFC seem like pretty good candidates to use as a base gun as well.
If it were me I'd definitely start off with a G&P, but depending on what you're doing with the externals maybe CA or VFC might be better.

Yeah, you're right. Thermold was discarded a while ago and never used since in the CF. Main reason was they didn't resist to the cold as they can break easily in lowest temperatures. Other was the tendecies of these mag to ''open up'' when the mag was loaded with bullets. Result, the lips won't retain any bullet loaded in the mag or / and was causing misfeeds. The CF now uses regular M4 variants STANAG mags, like every one in OTAN. Hope this clarifies a bit
