To echo some of the posters here, stay the hell away from Palco. Rule of thumb, give more consideration from posters who...
1. Have at least a year on the forum (join date) 2. Are age verified (white user tag) 3. Have an age verifier tag (green tag) 4. Staff tag Some of the new people on the boards will offer up advice they think is useful, as in the case of Ripperman79, but is quite frankly horrible. First rule of airsoft, never cheap out. |

dont listen to Amos. FAMAS is a great gun if you leave it stock. dont mess with it. Ive never cracked open the gearbox on mine and i dont plan on doing it (anymore).
Anyways, head over to the manitoba airsoft forums at www.mb-airsoft.com and sign up there. you can even get age-verified there and gain access to guns and the like if your over 18. Got to Xtreame Tactics a couple times too to get ahold of real airsoft. We are blessed with having a great local airsoft community. If your 18, or 16 with a parent, go to XT. |

So basicly i need to get age verified. How does that get me a Famas tho??? All the ones i see that are AEG's are all black. You cant get that into canada can you?? I must be missing something here.
As far as the famas being a old gun means not much to me. I want it because it looks great is a bullpup and you really dont see them very much. I never knew that the gun was super old! So it was the 1st AEG. Very cool. To bad its hard to fix. The only mods i would do to the famas would be a long range scope thats it. NO lasers and goofy addons that do nothing. |

Age verification lets you access the classfied section on ASC, That means access to people who are trying to sell their guns and to the restricted retailer section where if you had enough money you can buy most things available from a HK retailer.
If you intend on buying the FAMAS and can stick to your words of keeping it STOCK and not opening it, then you will enjoy it. But don't consider opening the thing because it's a nightmare to put back together. |

What happens to your gun if by chance you strip a gear? It may not be common, but it does happen from time to time. The FAMAS compared to any of Marui's other guns is extremely weak externally, the mechbox is held in by screws going into plastic that are less than 2mm thick. Buying something "Cool and rare" isn't always the best choice. Airsoft guns are mechancial and eventually something will break or wear out. On a normal AEG you can replace it... on a FAMAS you're looking at a HUGE headache. |

It is too bad nobody ever widely produced any updated FAMAS models with metal body, etc. It's not a bad gun but even the French are rumored to be getting rid of it.

P90s are probably the most popular bullpup around here and a good design and easy to mod and maintain. I see lots of AUGs sell cheaply since they aren't that popular. Those are great V3 gearbox designs. Type 97, Tavor, L85 are rare and will be quite expensive.

other Bulpups are; Setyr AUG IMI Tavor Type 97 and Type 97B FN P90 L85 (L86 ect ect) The AUG is probably the most readily available and easiest to acquire out of all of these guns. Both Tokyo Marui and Classic Army make fantastic AUG's. |

AUG and P90 do make excellent bull pup guns for beginner. if it is up to me, I would try to find person who has those guns and see for myself. Xtreme tactics has lot of guns on display (in locked room with 2 huge window). I know that Store don't have AUG on display but I remember that they has P90 on display.

I think, similar to the P90, it has more to do with the floating barrel. P90s are also insainly accurate for their size. As for a first gun, I wouldn't get a FA-MAS as one. As a reliable secondary, definetly.

famas v1 box uses a specific gear motor combo that unfourtinatly does not allow you to go to more than a m100 spring. you can mod it to take a standard motor. i have yet to look into this, only heard tell of it.
also the guns are super creaky... i think its put together in a different fashion and the creaking is a sympton. i have the tm sv or "g2". dunno if the f1 is any different. so if your leaving it stock and are not gonna qq about shooting sub 300 like most nubs than i say atleast find your self a tm. btw i paid $150 for mine with 4mags and vest. dont get fleeced. |
