Maybe if it comes down to it we can agree to a 500fps outdoor MINIMUM field limit and a mercy rule and we can have airsofts registered AS firearms.
Not to mention most would be "restricted", and could only be fired at ranges.

I don't know about other places, but in the U.S. we have to have the orange painted muzzle on the guns.

Damn it! WTF!

I haven't been able to view anything on YouTube since December!

I've updated all my drivers, my flash player, my shock wave, codex, all my permissions tell me that my Java is working & I even went so far as down load Mozilla Fire Fox & they wouldn't play on there either. So if everything is up to date, my permissions are good, & my Explorer is up to date and everything appears to in good working order - Why can't I watch anything on YouTube?

Any PC Jedi's have any thoughts, or opinions, because this is driving me spare!

(...deep breath)

...apologies for the thread-jack.

I'd appreciate any help you might have to offer.

You hit the nail on the head there! That's why the 18+ rule is in place.

Yes....because it looks so much better when a 22 year old gets busted with a basement full of "weapons".

18+ does next to nothing in the real world. If you think it does....you're either 18+ or ....just plain aren't exposed to what it is actually like. 18+ merely makes the situation OK for retailers.

Every time I see something like that I say GROW UP FASTER! Lol. *Walks off and starts hooking electrodes to pituitary gland*

Cool Videos though. Too bad it doesn't much help our reputation other than a little more interest.

Immature or not, at least that 40 some years old will be responsible for his own action in a legal sense.

What and people under 18 arent its not the age at all that matters. imiturity is imiturity no matter what age. people who act like that deserve to be punished but not the sport and all its mature players.

Banning things in the guise of 'protecting people' from themselves is a bad precident to set under all but the most extreme circumstances. Crimes committed with airguns are not "out of control" anywhere if you compare it to other statistics like crimes committed with knives, bats, hammers, cars, etc. There are far better reasons to ban things like alcohol for instance than there is for banning these toys.

I understand the dilemma a realistic looking airgun poses for the police, but, if a crime is being committed with one, you treat it as a real gun anyways and if you shoot the bugger, so be it. Frankly, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. If it causes you that much consternation as a police officer, find a less stressful line of work. Frankly, if all the perp could find was a fake gun and tried to use it on me as an officer, I'd be thankful it wasn't real and chalk the rest up to Darwin. I find the line of reasoning presented by that officer, old, tired and disingenious. He's there to protect me and ensure my safety and restrict my freedoms to serve that purposes, but within reasonable boundaries. I don't consider restricting my access to a toy a reasonable imposition on my freedom. YMMV.

Let the flames begin.

No flame here, 100% agree.

(Rant On)

If a fool uses a toy gun to commit a crime or intent to commit a crime, he is a criminal to begin with, end of story.

Take whatever action you would normally do with a dangerous weapon wielding suspect... if that is Shoot first, ask questions later, so be it. I'd hope the Officer would attempt to take charge of the situation however and then if the dum ass raises the toy, empty your mag into him. He obviously did not want to be part of society anyways. Damn people are too soft on criminals in this day and age.

Why a cop would get all emotional over this is ridiculous. He shouldn't be a cop if a suspect 'exhibiting criminal behaviour' worries them. That same fool will simply use a kitchen utensil next time or a baseball bat. Look back at the gangs of the 50's for simple examples (chains, bats, knives, etc). The toy gun is just the latest cool fad.

Doesn't matter what they are holding or using, criminal behaviour is criminal behaviour. Toss the fool in the klink and throw the book at him.

While your at it, follow the example in Robert Heinlein's world (Starship Troopers book, NOT the damn movie) and give the underage suspect and his Father a whipping in the town square. Do this a few times and things will change rather quickly. As he states, punishment should be by nature "Cruel and Unusual", otherwise it serves no purpose.

Used to work just fine back in the old days with the strap at school...back when students were actually "afraid" to go to the Principals office!

(Rant Off)

Phew... nice to get that off my chest ;-)

Cheers
