SVD clone parts
**NOTE: I KNOW the ak47S SVD clone is not completely(or remotely to some people) accurate, for ALOT of us it's our only current option! **
okay so I did some searching, and either I suck at working my searchs or it hasn't really been talked about. if it has just pat this noob on the head and point me please! I wanna talking making an SVD clone via an AK47s .. - the gaurder kits appear discontinued? (or anyone know of any instock?) - the Jing gong SVD AK47S-03 are hard to come by (haven't found a canadian supplier that's able to special order one for me) so here's the question.. are the individual peices available?... personally I would perfer the plastic/imitation wood furniture as I'm building a modern SVD clone myself but given the front end peices are useful for many other 'AK' variants where are you guys getting them from?.. I imagine the stock is the hardest to come by? thanks for any help Last edited by Reckless; May 18th, 2009 at 20:28.. |

You can't make an accurate SVD out of an AK47.

And you can't use a regular AK47 body, the SVD stock won't fit. You have to use a AK47S body with the curved rear end.

Why not make an Iraqi Tabuk sniper rifle instead? Or a Yugoslavian Zastava
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabuk_Sniper_Rifle Accurate and definitely possible. If you are near the border, suggest having one ( a JG SVD ) shipped to a UPS store just across the border by a US retailer. Pick it up, and strip it down, ditching the receiver. Then drive it back across declaring the amount as toys. Of course you'll have to worry about getting an AK47S receiver imported, but this gets you most of the way there. http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ER-XL-AK47-0511.htm $104US for what is essentially an SVD "parts kit" once you ditch the receiver, that's a pretty sweet deal. |

That's not an SVD though.
That's an AK47 with ugly plastic SVD furniture. SVD's are VERY different than an AK47. |

okay yes for the second time in this thread you've said the same thing... we know that... everyone here I'm sure knows that.. I know that...
heres the point.. I DON'T CARE ... when I can afford a RS SVD I'll buy one.. and it'll barely get used .. where as building/buying an SVD knock off CLONE I can go crashing through the bush with it... paint it... hell even loan it and not go absolutely mental when it gets a scratch or needs a repair. |

I know this is probably an off topic question, but does anybody know when the RS SVD will be released and who can I talk too about bringing one in to Canada. I checked lots of U.S sites but none of them have them, when do they come out?.

So far all ETA dates that I've seen just say 2009 with no month. I'd kill for an RS SVD!

IIRC, RS SVD is out in HK, but they're still filling the preorders the last I heard.

Which means it'll be a long long while until a few will trickle its way into Canada, if ever.
