Help with m249 reviews
Hi all, I'm currently waiting to have my av status updated and I have decided that I want a saw. Trouble is every review I've found says "its great", "5/5" etc, etc... I am wondering if any of you have experiance with it. Any brands to stay away from? I have seen three guns that seem like a good deal which mean they are probably crap...lol. Any how the three I saw were an Echo and A&K and a TDS. All come with a bipod and a drum mag and are priced below $350 US. I know I will play more having a retailer import one I am just stating the price for comparasen.
Thanks for your imput. |

There's only 2 good M249s, the CA and the G&P.
The CA is your reliability platform with it's tank mechbox And the G&P is your door breaking gun with its sturdy body, but for some reason a standard V2 mechbox inside... |

The A&K, TSD and Echo 1 M249's are all the same... (rebranded A&K) the A&K M249 is truly great IF you can work on it. I had one and it is a great upgrade platform. There are a couple of easy (and free) modifications that can be done to make it on par with CA performance wise. The externals are also great. Mostly steel and good ABS furnitures. For the modifications, check the arniesairsoft review! If you can work on it, there is no reason to get anything else than an A&K in you're on a budget (And once it's fully modded it can easily compare to CA (and of course beats the sh** out of STAR).

I just finished a full upgrade kit on an A&K 249, it was a nightmare of fitment problems. Dremelling out the mechbox for the bevel and spur gears to turn properly, the hopup chamber had a seam line in the feed port causing it to jam, and the barrel moved back and forth in the hopup chamber causing a 70fps loss

Classic Army 249's beat anything period. I can safely run 500FPS full auto without worrying about the mechbox breaking.
G&P is good but have a V2, cant take too much abuse. |

If you get an A&K, buy a CA hop up unit. Will save you grief.
