Calling out grenades doesn't really lower their effectiveness, sure you get less kills with it BUT everybody else is kissing their asses giving you the chance to shoot em before they shoot you.

Very true, I rarely get kills from grenades and rarely get killed by them even if they land close. Normally you setup a group to shoot anything that moves, throw the grenade, and then gun down everyone who is running to find new cover. The only time they really make kills is at indoor games where they often aren't allowed because of some retards making them too powerful just because they can.

Yes indoors they get tons of kills AND make everybody else run so you can shoot em. (also Tornados for indoors are freaking sweet)

is it allowed to shout 'frag out' and throw whatever to make people think it's a nade?

would be stupid for a game to say no to that. It is easily something that i would do in real life and it was fairly effective at broadsword when people did it.

I'd say why not.

Its great to see how fast people run when you do that at a game where grenades are not allowed. We did it once at the mill and everyone on the other side of the door way started sprinting away, we charged in immediately and they started yelling that it was a dud and we where cheating by using grenades, we then yelled back that it was a roll of gun tape.

Regardless of where or who makes them, there is always a noticeable number of dud grenades so yelling it and throwing something else will have the same effect, unless you over do it (or in my case, have 3 duds in a row and then the 4th goes off when they don't run ^_^ )

I'd personnaly not allow that in my games. Too easy, boring and will just result in un-entertaining confusion.

Indeed it is sneaky and fair in real life but just imagine a game at the Mill (for example) if everybody starts grabbing little pieces lying around and throw them calling GRENADE all the time. It'll become just a question of doing that many times and picking out people who run afterward. Not very tactical/fun. It's such an easy tactic that everybody would do it. It's my personal "airsoft ethics" that prevents me from doing it. It's fun for the thrower, not for all players so it shouldn't happen.

Allow me to tell a short story : The only time it happened to me (a fake grenade) was when we were in a very very intense game. We had managed to pierce the defenses on level 3 at the Mill and managed to consolidate a small beachhand at one of the entrance (one team was holding level 3 and we had to break their defenses, you know how hard that can be at the Mill). We had fought 45+ minutes for that beachhead. We were then gathering the team for a mass charge (you know how long it can be to coordinate everyone). Someone on the other team threw an old black shoe and yelled grenade. Of course we all ran out of our cover (in the heat of the game you see a black thing fly toward you and hear grenade, pretty much all you need to run), hoping to avoid the "grenade" and hoping that some of us would not get shot at and survive. We all got killed and it totally wasted the fun we had in that gun while the other team was just laughing it's ass off.

Never again please.

I'm going to throw in another aspect of grenades which really annoys me, maybe it can get worked into the rules: NO BLIND FIRE should also apply to grenades.

You shouldn't throw a bona fide Class-C explosive device someplace if you can't see where it'll land. But all too often (specially at Action500) I see people light stuff up and chuck it as far as they can, over structures and barriers, without seeing where it's going to land.

That part I consider irresponsible and way more dangerous than blindfiring an airsoft gun, yet it's never addressed by organizers.

Maybe we could adopt the police way of trowing grenades (flashbangs).

When they trow it normally, they have an eye on where it's generally going to land. One of the tecnique they use before flashing a room, is to first stand near the door, covered by the wall, kneel 90 degree from the door, rotate toward the door frame (now open) and trow underhand while looking in the direction of the trow. Quickly rotating back under cover of the door frame/wall. That take less than a second and insure that the persone trowing the flashbang know where it's going to land. As in, not in a baby crib, not bouncing back on an obstacle and flashing the team.

This could be adapted for us, like Drake said, like the no blind fire rule.

I'd personnally allow blind trow for rooms clearing when you just make the grenade land in the middle of the room that was previously "peaked" or "pie sliced" to insure it's empty or where the ennemy is located. Making sure the room is safe to frag, and not packed full of people resting on their back on the floor.

It could be difficult for outside use to always see where you trow, but the open space and amount of room to operate would limits the danger factor IMO. Just calling it would be enough.

Considerations the Military don't need to take in combat

1 hitting someone with said grenade your trying to kill him

2 likely hood of idiots who don't understand grenade safety on your side most army's work really hard to get morons transferred to the rear.

3 throwing a grenade to close to an OP For the closer the better in fact

i agree with what has been said and think 2 consideration should be made

1 if your throwing a grenade you should be able to see where it lands or the general area if you are throwing it into a compound throwing it over a building should be discouraged

2 hearing protection should be used it doesn't take all that much to damage your hearing over time allot of former armed force's members and war vets have hearing issue's for a reason a cheap pair of hearing protection it take's less then you would think to cause hearing damage
