They don't ask what's in the package. They ask for the value and you pay the insurance accordingly. Just make sure your gun is wrapped in an inconspicuous manner to not draw attention to it being a gun and all will be well.

I never got ask what inside the box, but just by chance if they ask then, just tell them it's an expensive model like train, car, aircraft..etc.. or if it's in a bulky box then you can say it's expensive guitar. That's would be all.

Or you could tell them politely to "fuck off", that it's none of their business.. haha

Haha, they can't open your mail though, AFAIK. I mean I'm sure theres a few scenarios where they can, but they can't just be like, your suspicious I'm going to open your mail. It's not the Canada Post post office workers job anyways.
And they cannot ask you whats in your package. Or rather, you don't have to tell them.
I have a Pak-Mail near my house so they can ship by any courier type I want, but I hate it cuz when they're estimating value she always asks, whats in the box. And I have to tell her every time, thats not your business stop asking.

well I have had one gun shipped with no inconspicuous markings at all, MP5 box art all over the place and had no problems except a black unmarked helicopter that keeps circling my house...

was suprised I had no issues getting it but it arrived.

If you try to claim insurance and they deem it a firearm (I think even pellet guns so above 407fps and YOU have to prove its under 407 after its lost or broken) they will refuse the insurance claim. Canada Post will only ship guns Priority Courier, anything else and you are breaking their rules and they can refuse service. Also they x-ray packages before they go on flights if you send it airmail (priority courier and sometimes xpress are sent by air across the country) and if it happens to be a Purolator plane, they will refuse it if it looks like a firearm. Purolator will not ship anything even like a firearm and since they are owned by Canada Post sometimes packages are piggy backed.

Problems are rare and CP has zero right to know whats in the package unless its crossing a border, x-ray scans excluded. I have shipped dozens of guns over the past couple years and have never had a problem, always with xpress post, but I have never had to make an insurance claim.

Paranoia:

Paranoia is a thought process characterized by excessive anxiety or fear, often to the point of irrationality and delusion. Paranoid thinking typically includes persecutory beliefs concerning a perceived threat towards oneself. In the original Greek, παράνοια (paranoia) simply means madness (para = outside; nous = mind). Historically, this characterization was used to describe any delusional state.

Sometimes in common usage, the term paranoia is misused to describe a phobia. For example, a person may not want to fly out of fear the plane may crash. This does not in itself indicate paranoia, but rather a phobia. The lack of blame in this case usually points to the latter. An example of paranoia, however, would be fear that terrorists are hijacking a particular plane to crash it, with no evidence to suggest such.

I'm pretty sure it's a criminal offence to open someone elses mail without express permission to do so (except when they have warrant or have suspicion to believe that there's something illegal in there).

I had a package shipped to me from montreal and it got here fine. Don't know if it went on an air carrier though.
