Rubber K98 Bayonet
Rubber K98 Bayonet
Since I have had a few people out in the field comment on my rubber K98 bayonet I figured I should tell everyone about it. I ended up getting mine off of ebay, it shipped fine from the US. The person that sells them puts them up regularly on ebay. So just put in the minimum bid of 12US and you should get it, if not, just wait till another one is listed. The other option is to get it off of his website, which he mentioned to me. http://www.dutchiesmilitaria.com/ It is also listed there for 12US, so why spend more if you don’t need to. If you are like me and you just want a bit of ‘security’; that ebay offers, your best bet is to use ebay. The website does have a lot of other ‘neat’ items that reenacter might want so its worth giving a check. On to my personal review… The picture on ebay and on the website does not do the rubber knife justice. The rubber appears solid and the molding is exceptional showing texture in hand grip. The blade and finger guard is also stamped, as a real k98 bayonet would be stamped. As a note of caution… The blade is also slightly sharp and could possibly even give you a small cut. The sharpness was evident as it works well as a letter opener. It is also pointy and does hurt if you are jabbed on exposed skin. Down side. Unfortunately the grip is not hollowed out to fit on a k98 bayonet lug, so it is something you might need to do if you want to use it in combat like me. Using a dremil drill it only took about an hour or so to carve the grove. Be careful in carving the grove as you need to keep enough rubber on the grip as you don’t want to rip off the bayonet when you stab someone. I will upload some pictures soon to illustrate the detail. Last edited by Pockets; March 23rd, 2009 at 16:59.. Reason: added link |
