I have the KM4A1, which is probably the same magwell as the tac, and the box of KA metal midcaps I got are not compatible; I have to press upwards on the mags to get them to feed properly. Otherwise, they dry fart a lot.

I tried those plastic branded midcaps (MAG or Star, can't remember which) and found them incompatible as well.

I finally got 5 TM metal midcaps from Redwolf, and they work perfectly.

Hi guys... Interested in buying a KWA M4A1 rifle. I was wondering if the issue is due to their stock hop up leading to feeding problems with other mags. Has anybody changed their stock KWA hop up with an after market...ie Guarder or G&P etc. to solve this problem.

the mags work fine.
the small spring loaded nub that hold the BBs in the mag is a bit too long. just take an xacto knife and even some fine sand paper, wrap it around a pen or pencil and remove 0.5mm to 1mm from the edge. after that it should feed just fine.

The KA mags are fine if you tweak the bb retention hook a little. As described, with a small file. Takes about 5 seconds per mag once you get the sense of how much needs to be taken off. There's 2 other threads (I think searching for KA or King Arms mags not feeding will find them) about what to do.

Gun Runner...the KWA is a 2 piece split hopup design...similar (and I think interchangeable with) to the stock TM design. So any split design should work. ****EDIT**** See Skladfin's clarification below for the nozzle differences!!!

Alternatively, for you, it'd be easy enough to dremel out the small area to make room for a one piece metal hopup. I'm not sure why they did it that way...but they did.

no, the KWA hop up unit is not TM compatible. from the outside its identical, but try to compare them both side to side looking through the nozzle side.

you will see a slot on top of the KWA hop up unit, as for the air seal nozzle inside the gearbox, it has a slot on top of it to run inside that hop up unit.

the TM does not have that slot for the nozzle to run in, so it wont go forward causing massive BB jam.

You're completely right! I had forgot about the nozzle with the ridge along the top of it!!

If you swapped both the nozzle and the hopup unit I believe it would work.

the retention hook is that mean the little hook that hold the BB on top of the mag?(the one that make the BB not jump out the mag?)
that means i need to cut the eage off liittle bit right!

yup, it worked but for some reason I experienced massive air seal problem.

I tried 4 different airseal nozzles with the TM hop up unit combination, and non of them worked properly.

a spring that was supposed to shoot 400FPS, shot only 290FPS.

I also tried it by taking off the sector clip on the sector gear, same thing.

put it back to stock KWA hop up unit and airseal nozzle, and voila, its shooting at 400FPS again

Use a small file, much easier than cutting, takes about 3-5 seconds per mag.
You are only taking off a very tiny bit, less than 1mm in most cases.
