Who would be interested in this upcoming AEG Sniper/DM accessory?

I have always thought that semi-only was not "enough" for electric Sniper/DM guns. In other words, I don't think semi-only is 1) realistic enough or 2) enough of a disadvantage to justify substantially higher FPS limits for Sniper/DMs or 3) Cool and different enough.

So, I am currently working on some units specially made to be used for Sniper/DM electric rifles. Here's what it does:

• In semi-auto it will enforce a 1 second delay between shots.
• In full-auto, the gun will still fire full auto but only at a rate of 1 round per second.

The unit would go between the battery and the rest of the gun; no mechbox mods, soldering, or rewiring required.

Want to take it out? Just remove it and plug the battery straight into the gun. Presto, you have a normal gun again.

Anyone else interested in something like this?

I think that's a great idea, there's a guy out here who wound up with a hot M-14 and the mechanics of altering the selector aren't something many folks can wrap their heads around.

and adding pre-cocking (sure to get porn spammed now...) would be even better. Train the rifle with 5-6 semi shots and after that it pre-cocks (spam) every shot.

Pre-cocking would be the cat's ass! However, there is just no way to do it reliably without adding sensors (modding, soldering, etc.) Sadly that particular feature has to stay on the wish-list for now.

Forced delay I would be a no but thats just me. As for pre-cocking, that I would be all over I have seen some videos out there of some guys who made it but like you said reliability will be an issue.

I have a semi-only DMR. I choose to sacrifice the quiet operation in exchange for the quick second shot. Intentionally cripplying my AEG to perform like a bolt gun seems silly vs buying a bolt gun. Of course, I'm not just scraping by and selling blood to feed my airsoft needs. (;

I have to agree with APOC, even in the real world one of the reasons you'd want to use a semi DMR is for the ability to take quick follow up shots. To me the 1 second delay is too long to make that useful (I know upgraded springers are harder to cock, but on a real bolt action [or a gas bolt airsoft, I guess] -- accuracy aside -- I can cycle somewhere around that speed). And airsoft guns like the PSG-1 aren't crippled like that.

Where I'd see the most usefulness would be limiting both semi and auto to "semi" and using the mosfet to safely allow a higher voltage pack in order to reduce trigger lag. And while pre-cocking may not be possible, maybe a system of half or 3/4 cocking, to reduce how far the piston needs to travel when the trigger is pulled?

But yeah otherwise I think someone would be better off using a real BA.

Why not just enforce weapon appropriate real-caps for all DMR users? Should keep the bullet-hose types changing mags and less of a threat. Seems like this kind of electronic balance removes some of the realism we strive for.

I STILL have to get around to testing this thing out, too bad I never think of it when I have an appropriate gun on my bench (and my own AEGs both have Trigger Masters in them already).

They will look just like Trigger Masters except that they have fewer wires!
