Flash hider - tap?
So I'm making couple of flash hiders but when measuring stock flashiders, i'm kinda confused...
Usually on retailers websites, they state 14mm Neg (left hand). So drill tap should be either 1/2'' or 33/64'' (for respectively 1,25mm pitch and 1,5mm pitch). But when I measure the one I have, the drill tap is 13.1mm? So if anyone ever made a custom flash hider I would like to know wich tap you,ve used -14 x 1,25 or 14 x 1,5 Thanks in advance

I don't mean to sound like an asshole, because this seems quite obvious, why not use a metric tap? Imperial system tools never precisely line up with metric tools (in my experience).

Isn't the pitch 1.0mm?

I just brought my outer barrel to work and yeah the pitch is 1.0mm.
Problem is, there isn't a 14 x 1 thread... and when measuring the outside diameter of the outer barrel, I came up with 13.3ish mm So if anyone ever made some, what tap have you used? Vince

I have TAP's for sale that is perfect for PTW's 14 mm+, I just purchase real steal flash hinders and retread them to 14+....now if you purchase an airsoft flash hinder that is 14 - "CCW", you will need to use a lathe to allign the flash hinder hole and make it bigger using a carbide bur, then you need to go to the plumming department and get a copper tube and tread 14mm+ "the copper tube" and then you simply locktite the 14+ copper tube cut pipe into the new hole of the flash hinder that you have made...just make sure that everthing "hole" is alligned perfectly...you might want to make some sort of a jig to keep your flash hinder from going to side to side with you are enlarging the hole...

Interested, but not to make flash hiders...
However, I think I will still make one flashider for my custom rilfe. Do you thing you can make some bare alluminium "tubes" treaded to 14 CCW? Somthing along the line of a 3/4" tube O.D. |

been done...easily...just make some holes here and there or even cut some grooves to make it look nice....make sure you use mineral oils "heavy" and take your time to place those treads...
