Ya, the tighter coils go on the spring guide side.

Just out of curiosity, what happens if you install the spring backwards? I've got the MS110SP in 2 of my guns, and have it installed correctly, but was wondering what effects it has if it's installed backwards.

Typically a lower fps, sometimes as much as 30fps drop.

Hmmm... I'm 99% positive I did install the spring correctly in my M15 rifle, yet only getting 350 fps out of it, where I should be getting in the 380 range. This could be the problem... I'm about to order a new tappet plate and nozzle for it, so I'll be sure to check that out when I do.
EDIT: Just removed the upper receiver to check out the M15. Seems the spring is installed correctly. Looks like I'll be doing more troubleshooting when I get my new parts.

Possible airleak I guess.

That's what I suspect. I had really good compression when holding my finger on the nozzle and pushing the piston. But because I didn't know I had to stretch the Systema piston head o-ring, I reused the stock CA one. That may be the problem. I'll be fixing that once I receive my new parts.
But even as it is now, 350 fps isn't bad. It's a nice improvement over the stock 300-ish performance. But it should be more than that.

Over time air seal degrades once in a while regrease/replace o rings. Good luck to ya! Could also be the hop up rubber being worn out!

I've replaced the piston, piston head, cylinder head and spring guide with Systema parts. A Systema nozzle and tappet plate are on the way, as well as new Systema hopup rubber. I'll see how it goes when I get those parts installed. Thanks for the tip though. All suggestions are welcome. I'm a noob, so any and all help is appreciated.

My 416 is completely stock. Only add-ons I have are external. I have the 110 spring in both my M15 and C8. Don't know what velocity my C8 gets, as the mechbox cracked after about 200 shots. Seemed pretty powerful after the upgrade though.
BTW, with use, the spring settles down nicely in the 416. I chronied it again last night after having used it a bit and velocity is now down in the 400 fps range. Sepulcrum's has seen a lot of shooting and his has settled down to the 370 range.

I've actually gotten into the habit of streching ALL the piston head O-rings, and get really good results even from stock TM heads now.
