Bluing is a treatment for steel. Just steel-wool the gun down if theres any remaining blue on the gun, and Re-blue the metal.

There were no bluing on mine so i was abit of suspicious, but after abit of research, these guns were all made of stamp steel : ) The barrel/hand guard and magazine all appeared to have bluing on them but then i tried them with a magnet and it worked, and i thought magnets don't work with Steels..hmm.

Steel is a ferrous metal, of course a magnet would be attracted to it.

The magnet apears to work on Chinese AGM MP40 but not on my Tanaka kar98 and Shoei STG44...
Does that mean the Chinese made cheap mp40 is using steel gun body and Japanese Classic guns are pot metal??

After some research on Shoei.
It appears all their product are made from Stamped Steel. Would that be the problem why the magnet has no effect on them? Can Stamped Steel be gun blued?

I couldn't get magnet's to work on my Marui M1A1. The manual stated it uses steel construction on the upper receiver (where I tested) and barrel.

Blueing isn't a magnetic process...
People have successfully blued pot metal before (ANcorp). Yes. You can. |

All steel regardless of manufacturing is magnetic. If it's not attracted to a magnet, it's not steel. Period. Stamping, milling, whatever, it's all the same material. Bluing, painting, it's just the surface treatment and doesn't change the core composition.
