Hurricane HK 416 conversion kit

Hi,

Was curious to know comments on this kit (version 2). Of course its a Hurricane so it should not be that bad but lets leave the comments to people who have one or assembled one.

- Assembly ease
- Mag compatibility
- Fit & finish
- Long term ownership feedback

Thanks!

V1 HK416 Kit
-Fairly easy to assemble takes a few hours at most.
-Soldering required if you want to use the crane stock.
-Had the pipe on my metal body milled down for the wire to fit more easily
-All mags should work MAG plastic ones are loose buy fixed with some 100mile tape in the magwell.
-Fit and finish is excellent but a bit shiny.
-Long term? because I have a V1 it doesn't have a notch for the RAS so it tends to offset for the body.

Have owned my for almost a year now its still in great condition except for a few nicks for well trees and whatnot. Only real problems if from the gearbox.

For those who don't know the HK416's outer barrel is steel so its got some real heft to it.

I will post pics soon. What I can say for now is to confirm that V3 works really good with the KAs. They have modified a bit the magwell to accomodate. Also not sure if V2 has the notch on the upper rail for the front end to really integrate with the upper receiver.

The V2's have the notch where the upper meets the front end also.

Improvements in the V3's:
Steel front sight
Improved mag fitment
Improved inner cavity of the receiver (charging handle fits alot better now)
More realistic battle grip
Widened channel in buffer tube, makes running wires to the stock easier
Slightly textured finish on the front end (not that there was anything wrong with previous versions)
Blued finish on the flash hider

Just a question to see...

I bought 2 batteries at Onlybatterypacks one NiMh and the other NiCd. Strangely both specified they would fit the HK but the NiMh is a little too big and interfere with the tube and is very very tight. The NiCd one is fine. However the wiring is not as described in the assembly manual that came in the kit.

My question is: where do you guys get your batteries from and are they the same as the sketch specified by Hurricane.

Thanks!
