I always used lasers on my crapalites (and thus have one on the new SR) and although they are not as useful as an RDS perhaps, they are quite nifty (fun) and noone has ever given me shit about using one. I've hosted a number of events and always welcomed, even encouraged the use of all the neat toys such as lasers, night vision, IR etc: They can add to the realism of the game and are quite safe IMO when used by responsible players. If someone is not responsible why the hell are you letting them play airsoft with you anyways? They prove themself otherwise, then they will be pushed out of the sport as so many in the past.
Granted, I'm still of the old fashion mindset of people using common sense.

Reason for the testing? He once bought a green laser that was labelled 5mW 635 nm (which is RED, not green). He got it tested and it was putting out some 50 mW which is TEN TIMES the eye safe limit and extraordinarily dangerous, even from diffuse reflections off dull surfaces! VERY scary.
We are treating this no differently than velocity limits for guns. It is a VERY serious safety issue with people's eyesight on the line. Unlike airsoft guns where an accidental discharge typically only means a welt that will heal up, laser damage to your eyes is PERMANENT.

Now that's being responsible, very well done.

Grey you don't even play so you have nothing to worry about.
