just got my ca m15 tactical so to those who have one, what is a good internal upgrade i should put in first? im trying to get to about 260fps im thinking about:

ball bearing guide
120 spring

wat else?

Leave it stock. It should fire over 300fps with stock spring.

You would be wise to read up more on AEG's and airsoft in general, stock guns already shoot 280ish FPS, the upgrades ur talking about would push 360 or more FPS on its own and without upgraded bushings and shims, your gun will not last with the upgraded spring.

You already have a metal spring guide, if not a bearing one already. The spring in it is only slightly weaker than a Systema M120. New CAs are pretty much perfect internally, don't touch it.

Unless he happens to have an air leak problem like my CA M15, I've got a PDI 140 spring, plus an all aluminum piston and piston head and it still only chronied at 255 fps with .25's. Last time we had the mech box out we did notice a slight casting flaw in the mech box right up by the front of the cylinder, but we are hoping that its just a faulty o-ring on the cylinder head and not that casting flaw.

ok then if it is good from the box, is there any parts that wear out faster that i can maybe buy a bettr part and swap it with the better one to prevent future problems>

You'll cause problems faster by opening it and switching parts. Just leave the damn thing the way it came and spend your money on external crap.

When pretty much everyone tells you to not touch it, it tends to be a clue. Dont touch it unless it's broken.

If it breaks, go find an expert. Really. That takes care of all the guesswork.

Having an understanding of how each part effects the other in the mechbox and knowing whats available is key to diagnosing what sort of replacement your going to need, and that only comes from physical experience. Without that knowledge, you are second guessing (And I stress GUESSING) a design team that tested everything in your gun to make sure it was working the way it should. It just doesn't make any sense to do that which is why people are reacting this way. Not all guns need to be upgraded, most people learn how to do that by repairing broken ones where there is nothing to lose.

Same answer, if it's not jamming, dont touch it. A full lube job requires you to take the gun apart.
That contradicts the 'dont touch it unless it's broken' advice.

Go to a game and have someone show you this kind of stuff.

Many maintance or upgrade threads will discuss this. You dont need to take the mechbox apart to lube it often, actually, if you lube it right when you build the mechbox, yo dont need to worry about that for quite some time. The hopup and barrel should be lubed regularly. Opinions differ on this, but some people like to lube their gun before every game.

And use a silicon based lubricant, NOT petroleum... Petroleum will eat your o-ring in no time.
