Woah I just hate them, I mean I just got my CA Para. The boxmag design is just perfect if you ask me. Seems like I might end up getting rid of the CA Para whenever that baby comes out.

I have doubt that the body is ever going to be metal and that annoying cock handle doesn't move like previous STAR m249.
I say HA might be the one to go for compare to this STAR one. |

Too bad it's a STAR.

Well after seeing my teamate m249 in action, they're well built and there systeme is easy to operate and for maintenance aswell. Only downside IMO is its all plastic!

That's not the only downside. This new model is a step in the right direction with the new battery connector, because I've read reports about the box mag connector breaking which renders the gun useless. A local guy has a Mk2 that arrived with the rear sight broken off, and others have reported breaking the charging handle and front sight rather easily.
I don't understand STAR's aversion to metal on the supprot gun series, after all look at their L85 and M14 SOPMOD. They're certainly not into the "cheaper alternative" market either if those two are any example. |

You said it right there. They are into the cheaper alternative market. Why compete with CA over a full metal M249. Just make the plastic one and get by charging 700 or so less.
I think a market of people wanting the support guns but can't afford the 1.5k exsist. They are not really competing with anyone with the L85 and SOPMOD, so you might as well make them good to appeal to the high end market. |

Yeah I suppose, but I don't necessarily buy the exclusivity of their other guns. You can turn a G&G or TM M14 into a SOPMOD with enough aftermarket parts, and unlike the STAR they will actually have semi automatic. G&G is also now producing the L85.
Personally I'm waiting for those 85 round midcaps to come out which is more of a high lowcap capacity. Our rules here dictate mids start at 90 rounds and up and on certain ops you're limited to how many you can carry, but lows are limitless. Apologies for the digression but had to demonstrate I'm not a total STAR h8r... |
