in my opinion, the lipo' packs are the next wave in the future of r/c and probably replacing the nimh.
I myself come from an r/c background and know that lipo's are completely safe to use as long as you have a voltage cut off set at 9volts. If the battery drops any more volts than that, the next time you go to charge it, i might explode.

Lipo is indeed going to replace nimh but the mere fact that there are lipo sprouting everywhere and bad manufacturing is getting common there might be a great debate on safety.

Lipo is already into airsoft, some package are with charger, and not individually charge, most airsofter who has experience using lipo in airsoft are using balance charger(individual charging that has a cut off, same as the wall charger but also with cut off). DONT ever use charger without voltage cutoff on lipo or else we could see an Emergency Flare fired at into our house, this means fire!!!
Some lipo bloats and leak if charger are not that good. go for Balance charging if you go lipo on Airsoft.

i would actually suggest you get a peak detection charger.
For these the peak chargers, you won't have worry about overcharging or undercharging and volt cut off because the charger itself is computer like.
i would actually reccommend a volt cutoff for your lipo when you use it.

For Lipos you need a Charger for Lipos and it needs to have a Internal cutoff
sensor for overcharging safety..

Also a balancer attached to the battery when charging so that it will equal the
charge being put into the packs so that one doesnt charge before the other
and they all hit peak at same time

Temperature sensor to warn of overheating and flamout issues arising because
of bad charging or bad cell

Also a LIPOSACK that you will charge your battery in.. I have seen a video
of one of these in action and if your battery does overcharge this will prevent
your place from burning down but the smoke it will put out will probably turn
your lungs black.. beats burned to death

Also to have a Lipo explode or start on fire it takes a good 5 minutes of over
charging or serious damage to the cells to break.. as long as proper care is
taken you will be fine..

I have already found a source for 7.4v 2020mah LiPos. for 75$ and 103A Burst
so the response on semi will be almost instant.. cant wait to get em in and run em... Will post review when I have fielded the gun/or tested it in safe
area!

Info on costs and such!

Things you will need:
Battery of course $75.00
A charger that has an Internal Cutoff and will work
on LiPos. (not too cheap but its for safety)
$100-500 depending on charger

Astro Blinky Balancer (The best)
Balancer (balances charge going into battery so all
cells are charged evenly and for safety as well)
$25.99 on most sites in the US and only place to get
them that cheap.
Click Here for the site that has the balancers!

LiPoSack (this bag in which you charge your battery
in will totally prevent a fire in case your battery does
explode "it takes a good 5minutes of heavy
overcharging to do so")

Oh and Kos-Mos on ASC will be able to help ya
with a THUNDER POWER Lipo 7.4v for $75

Yes it is expensive to get into but the batteries will last 2-3 games on a single
charge.

Think of it this way your basic battery pack puts out about 10A-12A and well
we all know that on semi there is a 3/4second timeframe in which the gun fires.

Well a Lipo on semi puts out 103A and WOW you will get to lag at all on a
semi trigger pull. So those single shots that need to be made right away are
going to get done faster and more precise.

Now in burst they will be about 75A and that is still a great decrease in time
it takes for it to cycle.

On full it will be about 51A and response is fast and your ROF should be a bit
faster than an 8.4v but not as fast as an 9.6v but the life of your gun will
still last longer since its only 7.4v

there is alot of stores in toronto area that carry all kinds of LIPO packs that u can go to and test fit and see what works better for you if some ppl are interested i can give phone numbers and addys just ask and tell me what area ur located in also try and stay away from cheap lipo's there is a reson why there cheap like no safety cut off .... and keep in mind you can not dicharge a lipo below 3v per cell or you will kill it they also make lipo voltage cut off
