ICS MP5s

hi folks, sorry if this has been asked before, if so please dirert me to the appropriate thread.

I am looking at ICS MP5A4 Full metal. Well any MP5 full metal to be honest.

I am just currious as to what others have to say about this unit. Is it worth the money? what about hi-cap mags for it? Is there specifics I should be looking for ?

Currently my only airsoft weapon is a KCS G17 GBB and I am happy with it, but am looking at expanding to a MP5 and or a M16 ( Canadian Forces - C7).
As long as they are full metal.

I've heard alot of good things about ICS. Apparently they have Really good receivers (upper/lower) soo... I don't know. Read the reviews, and you will be granted all the information you want. (search tab helps)

Go through the age-verification process, then you will see our Classifieds. You can also visit, and contact, the Canadian Retailers, or visit a local Game and ask local players.

Parts like magazines are pretty much interchangeable for AEGs. Quality of the ICS products seems to be just fine. I hear nothing but praise for their AK47 version.

I hear the AK's are pretty damn good. However...isn't ICS known for faulty internals?

I have a Mp5 sd6, never had a trouble with it, but there were report that the tappets plate tended to break, but havent had that problem myself and anyway it cost only 10$ to replace it. Mine works great, the mags are fine and the body is VERY neat quality (excepte there are no ejection port but who cares).

thanks folks for your input. I did get a ICS MP5A4. Love the looks and feel. Now just need to figure out why the bbs dont seem to be feeding in.
am i missing something.

Did you wind up the highcap?

Once you pour the BBs into the mag opening at the top, like a trap door, close it and wind the magazine wheel at the bottom for about 2-3 minutes or if it starts clicking.

When I had an ICS MP5, the mags also tend to rattle themselves out, so try holding it up in the magwell to see if that will help.

Also, where in Saskatchewan are you?

duh... my stupid, took me a minute to realize i had to wind the mag. (Ok i admit , I am a newbie to AEG and deserve to be shot ) Been playing with a GBB KCS G17. Just bought the ICS MP5A4, and waiting on the ICS M16A3 with Elcan scope.

As for my loc. I am in moose jaw, and seeking a good nearby airsoft field / or paintball field that will allow airsoft. Wanted to use the old paintball field in the city limits, but local boys in blue, just about had a bird when I showed them images of what would be used. needless to say, they dont recommend displaying either rifle or Glock in public view. :grin:

The ICS mags have a bit too round of a catch for the MP5. After awhile, they get rounded even more from repetitive insertion and eventually have a hard time staying in the gun. Other mags from other brands seem to work better.

And like Kid said, wind the highcap and be sure to use quality bb's, which means to Crappy Tire, Wal-Mart or bizzare brand from some hobby shop or something. They can cause alot of jamming in the feed system of a hi-cap and can also jam in and/or damage your gun.

I know for sure that there are a few guys in Moose Jaw. That's where wiseowl is based too, isn't he?

Anyway... On the top of the forum, click Community > Saskatchewan. Sign up for those three boards and give that a go.

If you don't want to take the time for that, at LEAST sign up for South Saskatchewan Mercinaries. There are a few Moose Jaw players there. I believe they play mostly in and around Regina though.

How do you tell...?

I just wound mine until I heard a click and no more. Never had a problem with them, other than the damn things sliding themselves out during shooting.

I broke the shaft on the "winder" gear of my ICS M4 mag when it was full wound. Maybe it's a rarity, but it's the only one I've heard of failing in that way from ICS.

Seen it happen to a G36 Marui mag though.

Hmm! I have two ICS hicaps for my MP5. I haven't had any problems winding them up, and I'm sure I've overwound both lots. You can tell when they're wound up, the resistance in the dial is very high and there's a distinctive "clickclickclick snap" noise. They're fairly sturdy as far as I can tell, but I haven't really abused my stuff much. The initial fit of the mag tended to be tight with only a tiny amount of wobble, but I've noticed with normal use (and reloading) that my magazines are starting to unwind when being inserted and the wobbling in the magazine is noticibly worse. I'm considering trying something else, because that just won't do at all.
