That shell-ejecting M4 SAEG... again!

A continuation of YanChan's Off Topic thread, except actually to do with the gun (now that it's come out).

For 40 bucks, that's not too bad. To screw around with, it'd be awesome- and at 330 FPS <, with a .20. Kapowwe's not too bad with their chronos, at all.

Personally, despite the plasticky appearance, it looks like a nice plinker.

EDIT- funny, this looks familiar.

It looks horribly unproportional to the real M4, interesting gun though.

Pretty much a copy of my reply on the other thread:

Heh, I found that a while ago, before it was updated with info and videos, thanks for getting the update to my attention!

Damn, upto 500fps with .12g bbs!!!!! I wonder if they realise there is a power mode (no power wasted on the blowback, cock it every shot), less fun, but who knows, maybe can hit say 500fps with .25g bbs.
Too bad its semiauto only (I bet it can be converted to full auto).

Now I REALLY want one BAD. I'mna email some retailers here. Doubt it will cost over $120 Canadian.

Cheers!
Alex

EDIT: Outta put the video that started all this into this thread.

I dont get it, does the actual "cap" propel the BB.. or does the "mechbox".

Because I saw it firing without power, he was just cycling the bolt... So I'm under the impression it's combustion powered... and the electricity is soely to eject the spent casings.

I doubt a cap posesses the power to propel a bb at all.

Probably fun for basement plinking, I can't imagine running around looking for used shells after a game.

Tell me about it, I thought loading BBs with a plastic tube was a pain in the ass. The thing also looks like it weighs absolutely nothing. If you noticed, it took the dood a few tries to wiggle the gun out of the styrofoam

$40 USD for that? Way too much for something that will be broken in about 10 minutes.

haha it only comes with 24 shells?

Where's the realisim?

If someone took this onto the field we'd spend hours looking for lost shells......

Yup - the coolest damn capgun I've ever seen! Id love to buy one just to mess around in the basement. Definately not field worthy, although quite powerful.
Would be interesting to see someone use the internals to build.. say an SVD! Dont know how long the internals will last, but if you can get around 360fps with .2g BBs, a decent barrel, it would could possibly make quite a nice blowback, shell ejecting SVD, or whatever else you may choose.

Guess I'm just rambling on, but I think its a pretty damn cool plastic toy

Cheers,
Alex

Big discussion about this at Arnies- the conclusion was that it does. Someone rigged up a test, and fired the removed plastic cap from a gun of his quite far.
That thread seems to have been deleted since then, as it apparently isn't UK legal.
A few folks are buying these right now. I'll see if I can find reviews afterwards, if it's at least durable, I won't mind investing in something like this. It may not be good as a field gun, but that's obviously not what it's meant for. It'll make a decent plinker.

As for loading times, I doubt the guy did it quickly because it was a demonstration. However, loading like that shouldn't be too hard at all, not counting the clipping of the caps it should take about >5 seconds per shell.

I'm guessing there's another reason that it's cheaper- for one thing, the mechanism is a lot simpler. It's simply a cap gun that propels BBs, not much more then that apart from a simple shell ejection mechanism. Hell, with a bit of epoxy, some Krylon, and a few rails/M4 aftermarket parts, I'm sure it could look much better. Still, it's not a skirmish gun.
