M16 Motor Whine
I bought my m16 about 3-4 years ago third hand. The person that sold it to me had not used it, but the person that sold it to him had, and it had also been upgraded. As far as I can tell it was just the motor, an EG1000 (I think, I know that sounds bad, but it's been so long since I've actually taken it apart, let alone been home and used it), at least that's what I was told.
Anyway, to the point, it whines like crazy before firing. I know it's relatively normal to get a small 'weeeoo' before each shot, but this is going a bit far. I've tried the screw but can't seem to get rid of it. Oh and I run it with a 9.6v battery. I'm thinking of upgrading it for sniper purposes so I'd like it to be relatively quiet. Anyone have any other ideas?

Use 8.4v unless upgraded. Might be the problem causing too much stress on your GB.

You know that I know your gun, and I know the problem you're talking about, but like you, I don't know the solution(was that complicated?).
It should be mentioned though, that this gun shoots rougly 425, so definately has a stronger spring, but just to contrast, my G3 runs a similar spring, and with a 9.6 v battery achieves a similar ROF, but has far, far less whine. So, yeah, any suggestions? More lube maybe? Alex

Wow, that makes me sound like I really don't know my gun. In my defence, I'm at the airport so have very little time to think let alone write, I haven't been home in around 7 months, and, up until this week, haven't had anyone to talk airsoft to for the previously stated length of time.

trim the motor again. Screw the motor in until it can come no further and then turn out the screw 1½ turns. Form this position it is usaly between +/- 1/8 and 1/4 of a turn off in aligment, between pinion and beavel gears. If it still whines reshim the aligment between beavel and spur gears, which also often are a source of noice.
