What the heck did I buy?

Hello,

I'm not especially into airsoft but I bought an airsoft pistol the other day. I thought it might be fun for shooting at pop cans and stuff.

It took me a while to figure out what I needed for gas. The BBs were easy enough to find, but finding the propane was very difficult. I now realize I need to order a special adapter.

I ended up getting some of that tetra-something PC keyboard duster. That seems to work OK, but doesn't seem to deliver the velocities that I'm really wanting to get. For now it works OK. From reading around the forum I can tell I will need to disassemble and lubricate the gun if I choose to use this stuff.

The reason I'm confused about the gun's make is that it doesn't bear a logo anywhere on the pistol or on the box it came in. There probably is a logo on the box, but it's written in Taiwanese so I can't read it.

I'm pretty sure it's a KJW, but not 100% positive. The box says full metal, and the instructions indicate that I should use freon. The guy who sold it to me said "green gas" though. Other words on the box say "Super Real Gas Series Semiautomatic Combat Air Pistol" and "6904".

Now, here is another reason I'm confused. I don't know a lot about guns, real or otherwise, but I don't seem to have a slide on my gun.. that is, the gun doesn't slide back at all. There looks like there is some sort of catch on the side, but it doesn't move.

What does this mean? All the other airsoft guns I've seen on this site and others have slides that can be pulled back. Is my gun not a real airsoft gun? Does it matter?

The gun was sold to me by someone I haven't met, care of someone I have met, who didn't know anything about it other than that it takes propane, so I don't know a lot about it. It may have been modified and used in the past.

The only words on the gun are "9mm parabellum", "CS P8008", and "Mod 8904". I have been searching the net all day and I can't seem to find this exact model, although I've found many similar ones. The weight is 800 gms, the magazine capacity is 26 rounds.

Here is a picture.

One final question: do I need to learn to take the gun apart and care for it? Or can this be avoided through proper use?

Thanks in advance, I realise these questions might seem silly to some but I only have so much time to research what is essentially a very realistic looking pea shooter.

-Eric

Looks like I was reading the model number on the gun wrong, it's 6904 and not 8904. I guess this is the gun I have.

So I guess that answers one of my questions - non blowback indicates that I don't have a slide (and therefore don't have to worry about it)?

Have you thought of going to meet other local players and gat tons of information in one spot instead?
Non-blowback = no slide.
Caring for a GBB (or NBB); read the Doctor's Corner and the Information Section of these forums.

That's a KJW Non-Blow Back. Grim brought in a bunch of those a while back. Stick to shooting duster off it, NBBs are generally more gas efficient than Gas Blow-Backs, so you're getting better velocity from duster than you would if your gun was a GBB. Using propane might be unnecessarily tasking on the internals. If it's not shooting as hard as you want, you might be wanting too much too from a mere pistol. It is an airsoft gun, NBBs were GBB's grandpappy, at one time all gas airsoft pistols were NBBs.

Next time, please research BEFORE you buy.

Basically what they're saying is what you've got there is on the very low end of the spectrum of airsoft quality. You might get some decent muzzle velocity by using propane instead of duster, but the gun itself is not terribly high grade, so you can't expect too much out of it.

Actually that is a KJW S&W M6904. Those things are fucking solid. But it is an NBB, so if you are gaming with it, stick with duster. And I would consider it high grade for a KJW. Unlike other KJW models, it has a nice finish and trades which isn't found on many other KJW models. But it is an NBB, so if you plan on gaming with it use duster gas.
