G&G UMP- Any Knowledge?
ump
I want one. Anyone know anything about its build quality, reliability, and no G36's aren't cooler "slick". Well, perhaps they are but in this case I want a gun without a curvy 300-round hicap like my M16 or uh... FAMAS. A nice stick mag with a lot of upgradeability and not everyone and their mother owns it. So? P.S. if it sucks tell me. Be honest.

myself and another fella off my squad picked them up this fall, there a really solid gun, great lookn and are shootn 305fps out of the box. there a typical g&g great lookn and should be a great little gun but put together very sloppy. after a quick trip to the team mech its up and runnin great once macguyver gets back from turkey day with the relitives i'll get him to let you know how the insides look, i havnt got many rounds through it yet so its tough to say anything about realiabillity but i gotta say its sure a wicked little gun. dissassembly takes around.. 10sec
batt. is stick style and slides in the back of the reciver |

We have about three in the warehouse, and they feel and look good, but we have not taken them apart, or heard much about the internals. We have not heard much negative feedback overall thus far, but they are fairly new on the market too, so we will have to wait and see what happens.

the internals had some minor issues. the one of archer 6's that i worked on packed it in after 1 mag or something and the issue was lubrication and shimming. they used white lithium grease everywhere (gears and cylinder) and the shimming of the sector gear led to it "missing" the tappet on each revolution, so a re-lube with something better and a re-shim got it going. the parts quality is at stock tm level and nothing more. they do have a newly designed tappet to replace the stock one, but that has to come from g&g and their site discusses the differences. this gun i worked on didn't have a broken tappet and no broken parts at all. it failed to feed and fire, so we suspected a broken tappet, but upon disassembly it turned out that everything was ok. for a first time buyer, or someone with little interest in opening up their gun, avoid g&g like the plague. it appears painfully clear that they have MANY assembly issues and really take NO EFFORT to resolve them for their customers. they proudly display on their guns " from the island of green and greedy" and this should be taken seriously. they use decent enough parts and with proper assembly you would have a decent (but not fabulous) gun. but for those who want reliability, look elsewhere.
