M203 shell problem- Problem solved! wahooooooooo!

Hey guys,

I just got a few shells and being the curious guy i am, i decided to unscrew the silver from the brass part. Little bearing came out of it. I have all the parts that came out. Ive spent over 3 hours (no joke) trying to get the bearings to stay in there and screw the outer shell on.

Has this happened to anyone before? Is it fixable? Any clues?

Appreciate it.

Yeah, I've had it happen to me before as well.

Same deal. Just being curious, I opened her up ... and PLAM!! a shit load of ball bearings went scattering across my desk, floor, behind wires, across my room...

Took me 3 hours to find them all back.

TIP: use a little heavy weight silicon oil to hold them in place.

heh heh Matt, I warned you to be careful when you opened them!

I found my loading tool for them, I'll ship it out to you tomorrow when I get to Ottawa, it helps keep them in place when you are loading and such.

I took at look at this tool on the internet and figured out that i needed to hold down the piston thing, then screw on the other part of the shell....then pull back on the pen and let the little circlular thing at the back of the shell, pop into place. I can do it in abour 2 minutes now, all i needed was a bic pen ....lol

yeah the tool is handy for getting the bearings back in as it blocks all the openings except the one your putting the bearings into.

Does anyone know where I can get new bearings for my 203 shell? I did the same thing as you did but I wasn't so lucky. And the tool you are talking about..... can you send the link for it?

Thanks

I found that BC Bearings carries 3mm balls, but I have to buy 100 minimum. But they are only $0.21each. So I will now have lots of mistake recoveries. LOL
