WE tech has more readily available upgrade parts (imo), including the angrygun 300% recoil kit, as far as looks go you can get someone to laser engrave your lower or find business willing to import a marked lower for you....SO bottom line having readily upgradeable parts is great! But being compatible with real steel components is AMAZING! (i.e. pistol grip, stock, buffer tube and buffer/buffer spring, rear take down detent and spring, forward pivot detent and spring fire selector detent and spring, forward assist.....the list goes on) I am partially biased as I own a WE, but that being said I did my research and found that the WE has had drastic improvements over the years, and that most retailers stock replacement/upgrade parts and I can purchase real AR15 parts to trick out my gun!

I do a lot of gas gun tech work... and I'd say go with the WE. Not for performance or finish or anything... but parts support. With the WE guns, save for a handful of parts (Such as the receivers) I can go to Brownells, buy quality gun parts at the same price or minor premium over an airsoft part... have it at my door for cheaper and faster... and 9 times out of 10 it will fit and I will never have to worry about it again.
Here's an example. Back in 2011, I broke my dust cover. The only replacement at the time airsoft wise was 15 USD. Brownells was 6 USD. |

I'll address a few of the points that have been mentioned.
Recoil: Out of the box, I think it would go GHK -> WE -> VFC. My old (2011/2012ish) VFC HK416 had nice and crisp recoil, but my WE is still stronger even out of the box. I put a real steel buffer with stock spring in my WE and it's strong enough to shake my backup iron sights loose. Do not get the Angry Gun recoil kit for the WE though, it significantly accelerates wear and tear. VFC Info: As mentioned before, make sure to buy the 2014 or 2015 version of the VFC has they updated the internals significantly, including steel components from 2014 up and a new magazine in 2015. However, I do believe they have only released the HK416/416C variants, the Colt M4 linup do not have the update to my knowledge. New Mag: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCefp4QzlRM 2014 Update: https://www.facebook.com/notes/actio...84932759/?_rdr Parts: The parts availability is a big plus for the WE in Canada as WE parts and real steel parts are both relatively accessible. However if you're just plinking around when you're camping, this is not really such a huge issue. VFC has a distributor in Canada as well so they most likely stock some parts. VFC parts can be ordered directly from the factory, or you can also go through WGC shop. GHK: The GHK M4 seems awesome, I am tempted to try it out and maybe switch over from the WE. However the biggest disadvantage for the GHK is the hop-up adjustment position, but this may be a non-issue for you especially if you stick with the original KAC rail. Another downside is the markings, it would be awesome if they had a Colt version. James, how about you ship a demo GHK M4 out to Toronto so we can try it At the end of the day, everyone has their own set of requirements. Each model has its pros and cons so you need to prioritize your needs and then figure out which one suits you the best. |

Well Ive made my decision, Im going to give the GHK a try Already got a few parts on the way for my build including a replica TA-31 acog ,and DE PEQ 15 green laser. Also going to hit up ebay for a new M951 surefire. Should make for a pretty sweet looking USMC style M4.
Thanks for the help everyone, will post up some pics when I get it. |
