VFC 416 vs TM 416

Hey guys which is better? I know tm is the best brand all around but TM is like 900 and vfc is 600 just wanted what you guys think

Pretty sure the TM is recoil shock, so EBB.

I have the VFC version. I like it, the externals look great, there is that big warning sign though near the mag well.

I also purchased an ares amoba 008 at the same time for the wife.

Although it wasn't a scientific experiment, the ares in my opinion shot longer and straighter than my vfc.

It is a heavy gun though compared to the full plastic ares.

It feels solid and has no wobble.

I'm mixed about the value. It is my first airsoft, but I expected better accuracy out of the box compared to the ares.

VFC 416 is a great gun. Exquisite externals, and solid performance ootb - with just a hop and barrel, the performance is very good. You buy VFC to have one of the best AEG bodies in the business. What you do to the inside is just icing on the cake.

The TM is a whole different animal. Also nice externals (VFC has better trades though) and superb build quality, it is an electronic blowback which adds a whole layer of awesomeness AND complication, and to be perfectly honest, TM is designed for play in Japan where FPS limits are much lower. If you're playing cqb only then it's a great option, but to take a Marui gun up to 400fps means an entire overhaul of all the internals, not just a spring change. I'm also finding that there are not many gun docs with experience on Marui EBBs because they just aren't all that popular here, mainly due to low power, high price, and import complications. The platform has a lot to offer (recoil, working bolt stop in empty mag, etc) but is "harder to own" than a more mainstream AEG.

VFC- Metal, takes regular m4 AEG mags, regular V2 gearbox, cheaper

TM- Plastic, takes proprietary mags, modified gearbox due to EBB, more expensive

TM has been full metal for awhile now, their EBB lineup that is which includes the 416.

There is a cheap adapter you can buy that allows you to use regular AEG mags with the TM recoil shock M4 line. You lose bolt catch function, though.

I used stock TM AEGs for a few outdoor games (AK74SU, Type 89) I found them on par with the other players' guns, lower FPS seems not a problem at all.

Price is higher but I bought them when there were good deals, and they are very reliable and perform well right out of the box. I only bought a few more magazines and have a lot of fun for a long time. So I think they worth the money if you can afford it.

Guess OP needs to decide EBB or not, then go from there. Both are top end models.

The TM Recoil shock models are solid performers. Sad to see most of the folks selling them are still very stuck in the Canada markup model. Oh well.

This 416 question seems to come up a couple times a year. I'll say again what I've said in the past ones. I have one of the original VFC 416 DX models It's about 8 years old, still looks great and is a solid performer. Many parts were changed internally and externally though basically down to boredom and extra money.

If I was looking for one today I would put a lot of effort into finding one of the TM models.

I do agree with him. I use stock TM AEGs for both indoor and outdoor games (Type 89, HK416) and I can still hit people no problem. Their stock hop-up is superb.

As for the TM HK416, they are very well built. They are rock solid and I love how it sound when you shoot it. Some people asks me if I am shooting a GBBR. It has that metallic "clack, clack" sound as opposed to the normal AEG motor winding noise. The recoil is not as strong when compared to the GBBRs, however it has enough recoil that you can still see it and feel it. I also like their functional bolt catch. So far, I haven't had any problem with it yet. Lastly, their proprietary mag is capable of switching from mid-cap to low-cap and vice versa; you can set your mag to have either 30 or 82 rounds.

I have seen both VFC HK416 and TM HK416 and I would say it all really depends on your budget. I feel that the TM HK416 is more fun to shoot than the VFC one, however the question now becomes, is it really worth paying higher premiums for these unique features?
