AK v3 gearbox selector not working
So I have this AK (brand shouldn't matter) with a v3 LCT gearbox that doesn't want to go to semi auto...I took the gearbox out of the body and tested it with the selector switch attached to the gearbox (basically all put together out of the body) and it worked absolutely fine, so I put it it back into the body and still no semi....I have no idea why it would be doing this. At first I thought the wires might be getting in the way but I made a hole for them to sit in and it's still not going into semi auto when in the body. :/
Any ideas? |

You sure you have the selector gears meshed correctly when putting it into the body?

100% sure, I test them right before I put them in then (without moving them) I carefully place it in then attach everything (selector arm, ext) then test it again and it's back to only ful auto.

If the selector are isn't fitting the cam pin tightly, you'll have problems selecting fire modes. I've used everything form JB weld to just hammering the selector to fit the cam snugly.

I don't think that will work. You need to make sure that the lever fits tightly around the cam pin. If it's loose, the lever won't move the internal levers. Test by taking the cam pin and putting it through the lever hole. If it's loose, then you'll need to modify the lever, or build up the cam so they both fit tightly against each other.

Oh, well maybe some superglue or jb weld WILL be nessesary, I'll take another look when I get home. Though when I reasemble it out of the body it works fine, does it require extra torque to turn the cam pin when it's in the body?

Well a washer fixed it, seems the thin one that was stock was cracked and useless, replaced it and it's working

I recently had a similar issue with my LCT. I actually got my selector arm welded to the ring that it attaches to. Solved the issue. No more selector problems!
