Fix: PTS Masada AKM feeding issue
So a friend brought me his gun with a feeding issue he was having with his Masada. There wasn't much info on google so I figured I'd put what I figured out here for others to find it.
These problems made themselves known in order, and after taking care of all of them the gun feeds great. Symptoms: 1. Load a new mag, and no BBs fire at all 2. After loading a new mag, it would feed one BB and then stop firing. 3. It will feed 2/3 of the bbs then stop or be shitty after Problems: 1. BB retainer on the proprietary AKM mags are too long 2. Mags sit too deep in the mag well 3. Follower gets stuck on the last turn Solutions: 1. File down the BB retainer (go slow, don't take too much off) 2. Place some soft sticky velcro (or other shim material, but velcro is traditionally used for magwell shimming) on the roof of the magazine well near the back. Now the mags won't lock, so you have to dremel the lower surface of the part of the mag that locks into the mag release. 3. Oil your mags. The method I use involves a tube loader, its a lot easier and works a lot better but if you don't have one you can do it the hard way with a click loader. Add a drop of silicon to the top of an empty mag (on the follower) and fuck the shit out of it with BBs in the tube loader. Cycle BBs in and out of it at least 5 times, but I did like 30 just to be sure. Note: DO NOT fire the oily BBs through your gun. However, excess oil in the mags WILL get on the BBs and WILL get on your hopup rubber, making it kinda shitty but after a few loads of dry BBs it will go back to normal. I'm pretty sure that's all it needed, but for good measure I also installed an SHS tappet plate as it didn't seem like the original one was drawing back the nozzle all the way. Great post! I had trouble with feeding on a PTS Masada with PTS PMAGs as well. I removed the BB follower and so far it's been amazing. Got some G&P Evike midcaps to test out tomorrow, they fit even better than the PTS magazines in the Masada.
