Best place to buy an S-10 Gas Mask
Hey guys,
I'm sure there's already a thread on this, but I couldn't find it. I'm looking in to investing in a S10 or SF10, but wondering where I can find them for cheap used, but clean and new filters. And also black tinted lenses. Cheers! |

The black or red tinted lenses are both ballistic and extremely rare so a mask bundled with them will cost you upwards of $400.
S10s themselves aren't terribly rare, but they're very collectable. When shopping for one, there are three categories to choose from: -(Relatively) Inexpensive -In decent, wearable condition -With filters/ lenses You can only pick two, and anything SAS is marked at a price premium. The best course of action to run an S10 on a budget is to buy a moderately crappy surplus one, completely clean and gut it, install fans and tinted lexan. If you want to buy a functional gas mask you'll be much better served by a new Israeli or Czech one. |

What Cliff Radical Said.
The SAS ones are a model known as the CT12 (They do not have the drinking tube installed) They were designed for the SAS to use during Counter Terrorism raids...think the Iranian embassy raid in London. These are very very rare. The FM12 normally comes with the black lenses you require.. they are an anti flash lens. Lens are not interchangeable and are smaller than a standard S10, drinking straws are longer and the voice emitter is smaller. They are quite Rare. The S10 is a good bit of kit however due to the design of the eye pieces it does feel claustrophobic and is prone to fogging due to not have a secondary air pathway protecting the lenses. I have heard good things about the Czech M10 copy. Widely available. Parts commonality with the US M10 and much cheaper than an S10

Not Eye Safe, Pretty Boy Maximus on the field take his picture!

Just make sure you put polycarbonate lenses in, the S10's for sure have very weak lenses.
