Aliexpress - Awesome place to get gears (if you can wait)

My only issue is the lack of paypal now... I really dont like giving out credit card info to sites that arnt trust worthy enough to be certified by paypal. Maybe if they never were to begin with, but the fact that paypal terminated its partnership with them doesnt sit well with me. Especially since theres sites like dx.com that are even paypal certified, and they can be horrible at times.

DX get their stuff from the factories that sells on alibaba and aliexpress; so you're paying for a middle man and add potential delay to shipping time

That said, I don't know the story about paypal vs Ali, but I wouldn't be surprised it has nothing to do with them not being thrustworthy (actually PayPal have done a few really crooked thing! Google for PayPal/Kickstarter issues for instance)

I'm sure it's more about politics than anything else; alibaba is a HUGE wholesaler; most stuff you buy at your local store comes from there or other wholesaler dealing with the factories, just like Ali; and they have their own customer protection system, and actually support escrow

I buy with confidence (of course the regular security whatever still applies like anywhere else though!)
