Surprisingly i find that here in BC, the cbsa arent too bad. I remember coming back up one time and one of the passengers in our vehicle was clearly hiding some undeclared goods, but the officer just rolled her eyes and let us off XD.

I've had a mix of friendly and unfriendly border guards myself, but the CBSA guy on that interview should never be allowed to do any sort of PR, nor should he be leading workshops on how to improve demeanor. That's like having a guy with booze in his hand run an AA meeting.

That would be good advice it was a real interview on a real news show with a real CBSA agent.

Guys; I gotta turn you on to some more sites for "news".

Get ready to be outraged. http://www.theonion.com/

Get ready to be outraged at the military. http://www.duffelblog.com/

Get ready to be outraged at your TV. http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-li...orites/n42647/ (unless you're not in the US then get outraged at sleezy networks blocking content).

I guess it all comes down to what your expectation is of friendly. Personally I expect sturn, firm, no bullshit, and an expectation of everyone to comply. I've never had a guard yell at me, arrest me, hit me, etc. As a taxpayer I expect questioning and searchs as the bare minimum.

If you want smiles and lays when you enter Canada, then put a concierge booth after every border check. Otherwise, respect the effort being out into national security, among other things.

And for gods sakes, if they deal with you professionally and quickly, thank them afterwards.
