Ear Muffs - BB protection
Right now I have the striker V2 metal mesh (the one with the ear covers). Not sure I am liking the look, or the comfort. Thinking of switching to the metal mesh masks which just covers the mouth area and wearing Ear Muffs (electronic to amplify low noises) to protect my ears from BBs.
I am not concerned about hearing protection, just BB protection. Thinking something along the lines of Caldwell E-MAX Low-Profile Hearing Protection Looking for opinions on using ear muffs for ear BB protection. Feel free to recommend anything. PS – Right now I don’t have a helmet or comms, but might get one in the future. Would dig further to find a ear muff which is interchangeable with head strap and Helmet mounting. Thanks |

In my opinion, protecting your ears from BB impacts is not cessesary.
Hearpro are hot and will reduse your environemental awareness. It's only usefull if you need hearing protection, and nothing else. There is always a better item to protect from impacts. A helmet will be more effective. But still, don't worry about your ears. If you do get shot there, it will hurt for less than a minute like any other BB shots.

Why not get a Paintball mask that covers the whole head

Not a fan of paintball masks...At least the one I have the openings are too large (a BB could get past). Also, with the mask I have I can not get a cheek weld.
Was able to bend the Striker V2 flat enough to get a decent cheek weld. Maybe I am just being paranoid about protecting my ears and ear canal... |

Just wondering how a helmet would be more effective? |

I've played with the noise amping/canceling headsets before. Be aware they amp the nearest sounds first. So if you're gasping for breath or it's raining that's all you will hear.
I think they would be pretty cool creeping about a CQB spot, listening for the oppos. Definitely claustrophobic in the woods in the dark.

No Not at all, But being afraid too get hit with a little 6mm BB, is a little odd If your playing AirSOFT and all.
Eye protection is single handed the most important part of the game, Not just from being shot, But from running through the bush and not getting a branch in the eye. Face protection Is wise, But for my team and players Ive played with its not a option. If you hold your gun Properly, 95% of shots will never reach your face. |

The Mich 2000 or any other variety should be sufficent. The "wings" go down enough to cover most of the hears.

I wear a helmet with a pair of comtacs. I also have my mesh lower face mesh attached with a special system I wiped up so I can take of the lower mesh mask without having to remove anything else or with no problems.
Its just a simple pair of z-tactical headsets, so if you do buy a pair then you have comtacs for later as well.

You can add these to a FAST helmet: Ear Covers

Comtacs would defiantly project your ears from BBs; Think they also look a lot more tacticool then the ear covers |
