TACO mag pouches
Been reading about these TACO mag pouches and want to know from users it they are what the are cracked up to be with the hype over traditional mag pouches. Pro and cons?

I love em!
Great retention, various mags/other stuff fit in em', etc. The only real downside to them is that if you stack single ones, 2 end up being the same thickness at a triple mag pouch. Although the X2 Tacos fix that...

Is the HSGI the only ones. They are pricey, but also a good if investment if they are that good.
I normally run bungie top straps so I don't lose a mag, but with the TACO pouches, are the retention that good? Just watched a few videos, they are a bitch to install? |

They are the only non-knockoff ones.
The retention is that good. There's also the option of adding bungees... They're a little tricky to install but once they're on they're solid! A good tip is to use a flathead screwdriver to pull the Malice clips through.

Retention IS that good? Plus it's adjustable so if you are scared, you can cinch them up tighter. I have ran WE M4 mags in the double tacos with no issue or lost mags

I started getting some... they fit almost ANYTHING. and I mean anything.
from standard g36 mags to pmags to p90 mags, ak, m14, water bottles, phones, multitools, oh yeah.. m4 mags.... :P they're awesome, but if you want doubles, get the doubles, double stacking singles does take a lot of space. and MALICE CLIPS. ffs these things... if you have a wide selection of guns, you'll never need to change your pouch arrangement or need new pouches or have to get a second rig. 1 rig will probably do it all for you. They may be a bit more expensive, but the benefit is that they can hold just about anything. I put a kwa mp7 mag in a pistol taco on my battle belt... I flipped it upsidedown and shook it harder than it would ever shake under normal use... it stayed in there just fine.

I run triple stackers right now, so doubles are my route.
With the stock pouches, I have lost a mag either I forgot to use the bungie retention strap or try to pull out mag with the bungie strap still on a mag. Taco pouches seem very practical where I can stuff anything in it.. |

They are extremely practical.
I've been using a pistold TACO for my multitool for over 3 years. I wear it eveyday and it's taken a beating and I have never had my tool fall out. It's been on me when dragged across pavement and various other surfaces, it's still rock solid. I've also never had to tighten the bungees due to stretching either.

fuckin malice clips.
just got the rest of my tacos in... and discovered I had done my first few wrong as well. fuckin malice clips. :P dealing with these things must be some rite of passage.. and after I figured out the best way to deal with them, I discovered a few of my redone ones need to be redone a third time so the cords slide nicely. fucking things. :P

Retention is THAT good! Yes, the first time you attempt to use the malice clips, can be tricky but once you get the hang of it, easy peasy.
Worth wild investment. |

Dump the malice clips and use the drop zone snake straps. You can get two pistol taco's to mount onto a rifle taco without much pain.
Taco's also have a small velcro panel on the inside, as well as the claps to provide over the top retention on the mag ala shingles. You can buy a clone or buy the real ones from HSGI. On sale during specific times of year the price is comparable to a clone + $5-10. |

Wow, those snake straps look promising. I also heard that TACOs will be offered in Helium Whisper in addition to Malice clips.
