Generation 3 Autogated tubes and Generation 3 Pinnacle Autogated tubes are different. The Omni 7 contract (Pinnacle) tubes are specifically designed for the purpose of running nods in dynamic lit environments, the similar systems are used in STI's AN/PVS-21 however at an external sensory system. Generation 3 Autogated tubes will still perform, however you will most likely have blurring/trailing of images under bright light.

I have never seen a Photonis XD-4 or XR-5 being used in the day so I can't comment on that with certainty. I do know their designs are different from that of ITT. Would you have a link to the examples of those units being used under those conditions?

Have a gen 2+ monocular and love it. Currently in the process of upgrading to Gen 3+ binoculars.

If you have the cash and play/are planning to play a lot of night games then bite the bullet and get a set.

A squad rocking NODS and IR lasers is all kinds of epic to be part of.

NVGs aren't much fun alone . . . but when you have a few other people with solid night capabilities you can do some really neat stuff with IR markers and the like.

For detection: thermal is unbeatable!

Unless you're using it to spot others with IR illuminators coming for you...
