It was also very well lit there even without the flood lights.

I'm sure old milspec NODs are better than new consumer NODs, but its was probably not that dark at Picton, trying going thru forrest with it.
Gen3 is still gazillion times better..

I've used the old milspec NODs. They were bulky and heavy and used batteries like crazy.

I'd put the consumer stuff like Yukon on par with the image; and they're much smaller with better battery life.

Actually I saw more when our flood lights went out :P Plenty of skyglow/starlight :P

Gen 3's are Gen 3's starlight scopes are starlight scopes, As long as I can see better then my naked eyes I'm pretty satisfied. I'm pretty sure Consumer stuff like Yukon have better image and battery life but not the gain of a cascade. I mean they don't have to power up 3 gen 1 tubes and have fibre optics connecting all 3 together. Although the illuminated crosshair is nice, the incandescent bulb eats more juice then the three tubes do.
