Ares LMG stoner

Hey guys. So I picked this up recently from a retailer in calgary AB. Just a quick review so far. I have not seen a ton of field time with it yet because of a glaring problem with the mag that has reduced this purchase to a wall hanger after only 10-15 minutes of play.

Opening up the box the gun looks very impressive. Very well put together. Very little wobble other than the stock. Battery is easily connected under the barrel in the gas tube. Also in the box comes a front pistol grip of alright quality, a second lower FPS spring, and the box mag that holds 1100 rounds.

Shooting the gun it chronoed in at 422fps on .2s. Perfect for the fields out here. The lower FPS spring has yet to be chronoed. It does come with ares easy step up power mechbox. Have not played with it yet because of the mag issue. The hop up adjusts well and seems to shoot pretty straight as well.
I really appreciate the size of the gun. Its about the same size as a m4 with the stock extended. It weighs about 4lbs and is an awesome assault support weapon. Not really one to set up with as it does not come with a bipod. One thing I am thinking of doing is a front grip with the extendable bipod. Would be perfect on this for a defensive position. The gun can take a small lipo or an AK style stick battery. a 9.6 fits nicely and gives a great rate of fire.

One warning as well. DO NOT run a 11.1v lipo on this gun. The mag can not keep up and jams up. I ended up frying the little motor in it. It also miss feeds as well with a lipo. AGAIN do not run a 11.1v lipo.

After Replacing the mag and switching to a 8.4volt the second mags spring tube kept popping out, than the connection that plugs in to the gun broke, than the terminals on the motor broke. Upon further inspection I noticed that the retailer had given me an older version of the mag. Really the worst designed mag I have ever seen. Its a shame that you can't use a m4 mag like a m249.

So now I am waiting on a replacement mag from the retailer. Once I get this I will extend my review.

But as for right now BUYER BEWARE. I would not recommend this gun to anyone until Ares fixes this mag issue. I have spent more time trying to fix it than actually playing with it.
