Spring Difference
Hi guys
I'm sure the answer is somewhere here but i cant find it. Can you guys tell me whats the difference between taper, non linear, irregular spring, etc.... so i can choose witch one to buy. Thanks |

Tapered springs have an increasing diameter (or decreasing depending on which way you look) between ends. Aside from Systema's hokey marketing gimmicks, I see no performance difference.
Non linear and irregular pitch springs are synonymous - this basically means that the spring rate will vary depending in various stages of its stroke. Theoretically this was done to prolong the life of the spring as linear springs tend to lose its rate over time. Also, this has the added benefit of reducing the force needed to initiate the piston pull-back during your gun's stroke. Although from my experience, there is very little difference between linear and non-linear springs. I sometimes prefer the nonlinear springs since they are shorter and easier to install. |
